Alexander Isak (CF) Newcastle

It’s an entire scattergun approach. The only guy they’ve so far managed to convince is Wissa who will be 29 years old once this season is done and Brentford really don’t need to sell him (considering Mbuemo’s moved to United)

They’ve tried for Delap , Ekitike , Sesko and probably some other guy in their desperation to land a striker only to find that no one rates them enough to join. Probably their interest has been used by Agents to convince other clubs to up their bid.

That’s not really news, he hasn’t trained with them for weeks, he wasn’t suddenly going accept their formal press release and return was he?

As for “family club” tell that to the family of Jamal Khashoggi, they are scum club and became one when they took despotic blood money.

And fuck the fan base who wear tea towels and that’s not disrespecting Islamic dress code, they chose to buy tea towels and wear them supporting their new despotic murdering owners.

A more well managed club would have asked for a bid of 120M at the beginning of the window. Accepted whichever bid came in and then turned around and invested that in the squad.

Instead, the Newcastle ownership seem to think that qualifying a couple of times for the CL and winning their first domestic cup makes them out to be on the verge of entering / breaking the cartel. And then decide to go on their ego trip.

They probably do figure that they need to sell Isak now but the damage has been done before.

Well Gordon and Shearer seem to think that. Then again Gordon doesn’t look like he can think and Shearer recording quite a lot of brain matter in that heading documentary

A really selfish part of me wishes that PIF would just keep the club for sale after this catastrophe and fuck right off.

It’s a perfect distraction for the fan base who haven’t seen any arrivals yet this summer….

And perhaps this plays into some fan thinking here that even if they got the 120m it wouldn’t reappear in signings, I’ve occasionally thought this when people go oh “let’s sell Salah”, “let’s sell Konate”

They did get Elanga through though. Just imagine how he must be feeling. From being promised that he’d work with Isak and then finding the snide bitter cunt Gordon up front as the CF option

Disrespectful? Didnt leave them enough time, despite Isak informing them of his intention before the season ended? What is happening here? Why are people presenting (laundering?) such obviously bullshit arguments?

I would have a lot more respect for Newcastle if the line coming out of the club was “we disagree with his version of events, but even if they were true it would not change our position that it is not our interest to sell him and we expect him to return to the team when the window has closed” rather than coming up with all these “life really isnt fair for us poor petrostate funded clubs who arent allowed to buy everything we want” fucking angles

More to the point, some journos are really showing their arses over this story in a way that will difficult to recover from. Did football journalism used to be like this?

Maybe they could offer the fee Brentford want for Wissa and not be so disrespectful see how garbage that argument is?

Evidently Isak didn’t feel that the amount quoted for him by Liverpool was disrespectful. What would be disrespectful would be if we had quoted somewhere around half of Newcastle’s valuation.

How much are these journalists paid by PIF for these articles anyway ?

And Isak’s valuation stems from his ammortization fees. That’s the only real valuation. Everything else is the club’s desired price. Isak arrived from Sociedad at a 63M fee on a 6 year contract. He’s completed 3 years of that six year contract. So that puts his valuation around 31M in terms of ammortization. Liverpool gave a more than generous offer there.

The reason I am still unmarried is I have too often found myself in the role of the wife in this scenario

Yeah evidently this is two stories from the clubs, we pay less and rely on Pearce, Joyce and Ormstein to push our position.

Hence there are two stories however I don’t expect Newcastle’s owners to tell the truth.

Offering a British transfer record fee is disrespectful…

Give me a fucking break.

Is this meant to be one of several tweets setting out different viewpoints of the situation, or is this really the take he is going with? I would have thought the former but dont see the usual numbering to indicate it is a thread.

Newcastle sources have been reporting since at least March that there was uncertainty over Isak’s position at the club and it was likely going to define their summer. Now that doesnt say anything to what was promised to Isak about it, but it does mean that if Newcastle were indeed only acting on a response once we formally submitted our disrespectful bid then the issue here is their incompetence.

The story is just such a weird one for a respected journo like Winter to float.

Thats why i wondered if it was part of a wider piece…

No, this is it. It is the totality of his argument.

He has balanced it by talking in the responses about his previous reporting of how other clubs have fought to obtain the best price for a want away player, citing liverpool and torres. But the two are not the same at all. If you accept this is hardball business, then fuck off with feeling disrespected by a club on the other side doing the same.

Nah Winter just swallowing bollocks. 110m was encouraged from somewhere it was supposed to be an opening bid. See Wissa and their 25m bid.

We’ve done this with several players this summer especially Wirtz and clubs have understood this.

And lets face it, Isak guaranteed them CL football for 2 seasons. That money alone is more than enough for Newcastle to be even turning over a profit even if they sell Isak for 40-50m.

Instead, they choose to peddle the lie that Liverpool’s record bid of 110m+ addons is disrespectful.
