He’s a decent signing and as others have said far better than what they have been looking at. That probably helps push the Isak transfer forward. Instead of signing a potential and claiming they need to replace a guy who contributed nothing in their best season in years.

I haven’t seen 10 full games but I’ve seen bits and bobs, and my take is that he can play. He’s not elite, but he is a decent striker who is better than some of the ones Newcastle have been linked with. If he syncs up with some of the pace they have in the side around him, it will be effective.

Obviously a big step down from Isak, and Ekitike too for that matter, but he’s about as good a striker as Newcastle could have got at this stage.

I thinking previously that if we’d missed out on Isak we could go for Woltemade instead. Thought he was off to Bayern though.

Woltemade is mostly betting on potential at this point, obviously an unsual combination of height and technique, but a very small sample size at top level, massive gamble for that price

Amazing that Bayern have managed to be even worse than Newcastle at transfers this summer.

It’s definitely a gamble, but I like Woltemade way more than Sesko. Newcastle should thank Man U for taking Sesko off of their hands.

Edit

I simply assume that an agreement on Isak has already been reached behind the scenes, and now it’s just a bit of a “show program” for the fans and clicks.

He seems to have the potential to turn into Ibrahimovic…or Caroll.

The difference with Ekitike is that he is good heading the ball using his height well.

The BBC sport app thought it was closer to £77M than 60?

It’s all just posturing and negotiating bravado. The ‘doesn’t necessarily mean Isak is leaving’ translates as ‘we still want top dollar’.

The club is net minus 115m in the market, we are net minus 120m

That doesn’t include this new guy or any addition like Wissa. We meanwhile are almost always in Europe and have won the title twice in 5 years. They’ve spent one year in Europe and have a league cup.

Seriously you are telling me they don’t have to sell him even though they are forever sailing to the edge on PSR.

That’s cloud cuckoo land

Oh and who breaks the transfer not him or Cope but a German journalist, tell me your itk while you demonstrate you are not.

The club seemingly doing little does suggest there has always been wheels turning in the background.

Craig Cope: Sources in the Newcastle heirarchy actually view Nick Woltemade as a direct replacement for Faustino Asprilla, and his signing should not be seen by anyone, but especially Liverpool, as meaning Isak is now for sale. He remains not for sale at any price, although we will take £150m.

I’ve never been so excited when another club signs a player, it’s so crazy. Cheers
