Alexander Isak (CF) Newcastle

With that size/height he’d be a set piece wonder. Good fit with what New Castle are doing. I wonder what the stats say.

Can’t see this one failing now…

Once they’ve spent £120m odd on two new strikers I don’t see why we’d need to go above the £110m offer we put on the table.

You can see from the Newcastle mouthpiece journalists that the tone has entirely changed today and it’s just a matter Newcastle putting their PR spin on things.

Think they’ll hang on as long as they can just to make it as inconvenient as possible but it all very much looks like they’re making moves that would mean it’s impossible for them to keep Isak now. Hardly backs us into a corner where we need to pay any more than we’ve offered already.

There has probably been some behind the scenes discussions between the two clubs to agree on the price we’ll pay.

Woltemade looked decent enough in the Euro U21s this year, aside from looking like a young Henning Wehn obviously - or is that just me?

It’s going be hard to replace Calum Wilson to be honest 18 apps and one yellow card.

For a bit of context on the level of Newcastles new 23 year old striker target he was the top scorer in the U21 Euros this summer with six goals, one ahead of Harvey Elliot who was chosen as the player of the tournament.

He has 14 goals and 3 assists from 70 Bundesliga appearances.

Most significantly he has a history of making terrible decisions with facial hair formations that would make even Rubin Amorim consider it time for a change in philosophy.

He’s a decent signing and as others have said far better than what they have been looking at. That probably helps push the Isak transfer forward. Instead of signing a potential and claiming they need to replace a guy who contributed nothing in their best season in years.

I haven’t seen 10 full games but I’ve seen bits and bobs, and my take is that he can play. He’s not elite, but he is a decent striker who is better than some of the ones Newcastle have been linked with. If he syncs up with some of the pace they have in the side around him, it will be effective.

Obviously a big step down from Isak, and Ekitike too for that matter, but he’s about as good a striker as Newcastle could have got at this stage.

I thinking previously that if we’d missed out on Isak we could go for Woltemade instead. Thought he was off to Bayern though.

Woltemade is mostly betting on potential at this point, obviously an unsual combination of height and technique, but a very small sample size at top level, massive gamble for that price

Amazing that Bayern have managed to be even worse than Newcastle at transfers this summer.

It’s definitely a gamble, but I like Woltemade way more than Sesko. Newcastle should thank Man U for taking Sesko off of their hands.

Edit

I simply assume that an agreement on Isak has already been reached behind the scenes, and now it’s just a bit of a “show program” for the fans and clicks.
