They’re so desperate they’re adding the £5m loyalty payment onto the fee we’re actually paying so that they can report it at £130m.
Don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone try and frame a fee in that way before. Apparently the richest club in the world but pushing a PR narrative over £5m he’ll probably take them to court for anyway.
I think this may be common practice. One of the reasons that reported fees are unreliable as there is not consistency in how they are reported and selling clubs will want to make the fee appear larger, while the reverse often true for the buying club (although exceptions will exist in both cases too)
Isak not getting the 5m from Newcastle isn’t a huge loss for the player.
The increased salary he will be getting as well as a signing on fee would more than make up for any such loss.

I know they often do that with add ons etc but I don’t think I’ve ever seen a club make a point of saying they aren’t paying a loyalty fee and then add that to the reported transfer fee.
It’s not that they’re getting £130m, they’re just not having to pay out £5m on top of the fee they are getting. It’s a level of pettiness that makes me chuckle as it only reflects badly on them.
I find it hard to believe that anybody, regardless of how much they earn, would just wave off £5m and say it doesn’t matter.
If he is entitled to it, he will fight for it, if he doesn’t it means he will have been compensated elsewhere in the deal.
I suppose it depends when exactly the two clubs agreed the deal. I’d doubt he’d be able to have a medical before then.
