Not sure how I feel about this. In terms of numbers, assuming that Diaz, Elliot and Nunez leave, it would make sense to get another forward in, but this lad’s injury record is frightening to be honest. Check it on on transfermarkt. :see_no_evil_monkey:

Also, I think it’s dead-wrong to dismember and reorganize a team of champions like that, especially with what happened with Jota. Is there no confidence at all in the existing squad, Klopp’s expensively assembled squad?

When it was announced that Wirtz, Frimpong and Kerkez would reinforce us, I though that it made perfect sense to reinforce from a position of strength. When Jota sadly passed away, I knew that we were one forward short now, and would have to make a move. As it turned out, we went for Ekitike.

But this is massive now, both in terms of financial outlay and in terms of upheaval of the dressing room culture. We still need a new center back because we sold Quansah. All these changes happen far too fast imo, and regarding Isak, I’d prefer us to keep that specific powder dry for when a more valuable target emerges, for instance next summer.

I really hope that fsg, Slot, Edwards and Hughes know what they are doing there. Arrogance comes before downfall as we know.

Injury record is a big concern i have as well. To be very honest Saudi league will be the perfect one for him given his injury record. He needs to be wrapped in wool but i am sure our medical experts will have that covered. I just dont want him to fail the medical if we go for him. Wont mind if we miss him as well.

I may shit on FSG but Edwards and his team are the very best of the data-driven folks in the game. In fact, Edwards laid the key foundation of LFC’s transformation when he persuaded Klopp to take Salah over Julian Brandt.

From their POV, their main purpose is to ensure that the team stays competitive by looking forward and doing the necessary groundwork.

Diaz is reaching the last 2 years on his contract and his age is also pretty close to 30 years old. Is the ROI on a new 4 year contract gonna be worth it in terms of goal contributions? This season, he had 17 goals and 6 assists (23 goal contributions in total) with 49 appearances in all competitions for LFC. And this is a player supposingly reaching his peak.

Nunez on the other hand has 47 appearances and 12 goal contributions. I think that speaks a lot of what Slot thinks of Nunez.

Elliott has 28 appearances and 8 goal contributions. But his value has increased due to him winning the U21 euros’ best player.

With all these data, it is not hard to see the decision making by Edwards, Hughes and Slot.

will amend my post!

Surely Newcastle will want Nunez? He is the best viable option… maybe Sesko or both.

Do swap deals ever come off?

One day it might. Or might not.
