Alexander Isak (CF) Newcastle

It’s kind of amusing how scorched earth we’re going but I really dont get it. I am close to becoming the real world verison of the joke of complaining that FSG are doing too much…“put your check book away, John.”

Clive Allen for Kenny Sansom.

Joking aside, they are too difficult to negotiate. Who decides on value?
There are imaginary notions of convenient swap deals all the time.
They rarely happen.

Same lol. I’m kind of in denial over Isak, I don’t really get what the plan would be for him and Ekitike, nor where this level of money is coming from. But somewhat reliable journos continue to report it, so my head is spinning a bit.

I mean we like to have 6 forwards who can all contribute. We’ve tragically lost Jota, and it looks like Nunez and Diaz are both likely to leave, so we’re 3 short. We’ve bought Wirtz who isn’t really a traditional forward in a 4-3-3, more of a 10, we’ve bought Ekitike who could lead the line as a CF or play on the left, and we look like we’re buying Isak who will play through the middle. We have Salah on the right (and maybe we keep Chiesa?), and Gakpo on the left/middle. Young Rio and Danns can fill in for early cup rounds, etc.

I think it’ll all work out very nicely for us to go unbeaten in the league for the next 3 seasons while winning three consecutive quadruples.

I don’t see the point. Ekitike strikes me as Isak 2.0.

Why sign them both? I guess if we’re losing Nunez then having Isak, Ekitike, and Gakpo makes some sort of sense.

But as it stands, surely those funds would be better directed to a Diaz upgrade (assuming he’s off) and a quality CB?

I don’t believe Ekitike can play on the left, he’s done it like 4 times out of 125-odd appearances. He’s a CF not a positionally versatile forward like a Rodrygo. I just can’t see the sense of signing two starting no9s for over £200m for a one-CF system.

My guess is Johny Big Bollocks as been lurking on here and realised we are onto him and how much cash he is hording

I know that this is a one-off, but this summer’s splurge is starting to feel like we’re City from past transfer windows (minus the nauseating aspects, of course).

Maybe we’re moving to a 2-CF system? There’s been a lot of noise around a modification of our system this summer.

Plot twist it’s @Notasuperfan

I think it might turn out to be a negotiating masterstroke if we are indeed interested in Isak this window.

First, when Newcastle’s bid for Ekitike was rejected, we knew there would not be an immediate result there even if Newcastle continue their pursuit, so we put it out there that we are willing to pay 100m or thereabouts for Isak if Newcastle was willing to come to the table. Newcastle would have all along thought that we would be interested in either Isak or Ekitike, so they had to make a choice, to continue pursuing Ekitike and risk having Liverpool coming aggressively for Isak, So they backed off Ekitike and allowed us almost a free run at him and they would thought that at least they kept Isak. But viola, now that we secured Ekitike and Isak turning out to be wanting to pursue opportunities outside of Newcastle, they are left with a potentially unhappy player whose value might just drop further down the road or they can now come to the table where Liverpool is not going to pay the 150m but probably a fairer value at around 100m as we originally had intended to and Newcastle might feel they now have lesser choices but to accept, take the money or players and then reinvest in the team.

Either that or it could all be bollocks.

Henry has found out Linda is leaving him so he’s spending all his money before she can get her hands on it in the divorce, so his response to unneeded superstar striker or new CB…

That’s how I see it. Or another 9 who’s young and up and coming. We only play one 9 at a time. Unless we go 4-4-2.

We seem to have gone from moaning about not signing anyone to moaning about signing too many.

It’s Isak ffs. He’s as close to a sure thing as possible. Fucking bring it on!

If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs, and blaming it on you
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you
But make allowance for their doubting too

If you can dream, and not make dreams your master
If you can think, and not make thoughts your aim
If you can meet with triumph and disaster
And treat those two imposters just the same

If you can bear to hear the truth you’ve spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools
If you can see the things you gave your life to broken
And stoop, and build ‘em up with worn-out tools

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it all on one turn of pitch-and-toss
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
But never breathe a word about your loss

If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the will which says to them “hold on!”

If you can speak with crowds, and not lose your virtue
Or walk with Kings, nor lose the common touch
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you
If all men count with you, but none too much

If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds worth of distance run
Yours is the earth, and everything that’s in it
And, which is more, you’ll be a man my son

Ladies and gentlemen, Liverpool will be playing four four fucking two.

This is insane man. Have the financial prudent American owners gone crazy? Or are we now living in some alternative reality where the fans run the transfer market and we buy every top player we can? lol
