Too offensive.

Swap Szobo with Grav.

We would Grav in the middle there to form the back 3 in attack.

I think will be more of

Alisson
Frimpong Konate VVD Kerkez
Grav. Mac
Dom. Wirtz
Salah. Isak.

Wirtz , Kerkez and Isak doing those linkups on the left hand side.

Ekitike will be a backup initially until Salah’s two years are done.

We probably will go without the traditional wingers because Dom and Wirtz should have that understanding with their Salah/Frimpong and Isak/Kerkez in this formation. Expect Wirtz to have that free roaming role which allows chaos in the opponent penalty area.

It would be a strong 1st 11, able to compete with all. Is the drop down, upon a potential injury, then a bit steep?

Just saw a comment online speculating that maybe we’re preparing early for life without Mo, and when that happens we’ll be in a position to switch to a diamond midfield formation. And it actually makes sense to me:

GK

Frimpong, CB, CB, Kerkez

Grav

Szobo Mac

Wirtz

Isak, Ekitike

Yeah pretty similar to the formation I mentioned. The diamond midfield instead of the square midfield.

Us getting those wingbacks who are quick has a lot to do with it.

I do think that Slot likes his pivot though and hence the likes of Mac and Grav as a double pivot.

Was briefly confused as to how we were managing a 4-3-3-1 formation, before realising Mac & Allister were the same player. :joy:

Just saw this thread had a gazillion extra posts and thought something major had happened…

Oh well. Good to see the forum so vibrant.

This reminds me of the Wirtz deal in the same way that I didn’t believe those rumours for a second no matter how reliable they got.

I shall continue to disbelieve the Isak rumours until he’s scored 20 goals for us.

I find that the best run clubs are the ones that act without emotions, like Madrid or Frankfurt…

Its not about beating a hairy chest or talking about how PSR is the devil…The same folks who complain about PSR often laugh at Barca who are faced with a far, far more stringent spending regulation in La Liga..

LFC approached Newcastle to ask about Isak.

At that time, they had a chance then with Ekitike, KNOWING that LFC had already done the groundwork for the player, and that selling Isak to LFC would give them a free run for the Frenchman, and something in the excess of 65MP surplus to address their precarious PSR situation..

Its a tough business- “this is the business we’re in”…We saw a 100MP talent in TAA walk away for free, after leading the club on for nearly one year…

This has been nothing short of amateurish by Newcastle…
