Alexander Isak (CF) Newcastle

We’re spending money earned from success, with Klopp leadership enabling us to punch above our weight, build a quality squad, then complete manager transition perfectly. Also being financially prudent for years. Couldn’t be any less like Chelsea or City

It was a joke!

Doak + Nunez + Morton + Tsimikas for Isak. Considering livramento is gone and there are question marks about Hall after the injury he had.

All the positions that they need filled.

Will be the master move for Eddie Howe. Total 12D chess.

Not sold on the guy. 120m+? Nah, swerve him and keep the powder dry for someone who is worth that money (or two players, or three…), even if it means keeping Nunez and waiting until next summer.

Is there anyone else available that is better than what we have?

Yes.
That is definitely going to work.
Fair play.
You really should be working for the club.

I agree. I think Darwin would still be very annoying to play against because of his pace and strength. I wouldn’t even mind keeping him because I think he may come with a point to prove.

However, there is a significant risk in that another poor season probably drives down his value in half. I’d rather sell him now and bring in Isak.

But if it doesn’t happen, I don’t think it’s a disaster.

54 goals and 10 assists in 86 Premier League games… (23 in 34 this year, 21 in 30 last year and 10 in 22 the year before)

We know how reluctant the recruitment team can be to spend money, so the fact they are reportedly willing to go so big for Isak probably indicates that they don’t really see anyone better for us being on the market this year and probably next.

Replacing Salah’s goals and assists is going to be imperative in the not too distant future and his figures and game and general career trajectory suggest that he is about as close as anyone out there to get at least somewhere close to the goals while Wirtz should make up the assists. I honestly cannot see anyone else remotely achievable, number one, or vastly cheaper, number two.

I think that we have to come around to the fact that by cultivating a basically priceless asset in Salah it’s going to take some ingenuity and a load of cash to replace.

There is a man stops women on the street to ask her questions video that has become pretty famous because the woman flips the script and asks him would he rather have $5m or cancer. He answers $5m and she says “exactly.”

That just came to mind

Naah mate. We need to get rid of Nunez now while he still has value. If we want to win big trophies and challenge for CL title we need clinical finishers like Isak at our club. Nunez might make a tough goal in one of of three games and then miss a couple of sitters the next two games. He’s too inconsistent a #9 if we want to win more Silverware.

I think that was the point of buying Wirtz. We need another source of goals and assists once Salah leaves. Also if Isak comes, we might have the best front 4 in the entire Premier League.

They do have to sell him. Not when he’s one step away from a transfer request.

They weren’t going to sell Isak when they missed out on Delap, Pedro or Ekitike. And yet here we are still talking about Isak leaving.

What’s one more rejection in a summer filled with them?

I wish we would stop using the term “get rid of”…
