When the Saudis took over Newcastle , people could see what they wanted to do , especially with the taint of corruption city have…as it stands it hasnt played out for newcastle purchase as they had wanted …but Saudi can still change all that by revolutionising the transfer window , and kind of in the long term having people accepting this , as seen with the complete bollocks of the club world cup.
What if Newcastle pay us £150 million to not sign isak ?
And then another £100 million next summer to assure that isak stays there and is seen as loyal?
I can’t help myself, I had to come out from under my rock again just to say what the actual fuck is going on?
Someone said it earlier, what a time to be alive. This could be the greatest team ever assembled (multiple caveats…including a couple of centre backs…).
To be fair, I enjoyed last summer far more: zero expectations going into the new season because of the new coach, but knowing that we had a settled, well-balanced squad and had the chance to be competitive.
That stupid tussle anround Isak is nonsense of the highest order imo, I don’t enjoy it at all.
I enjoyed signing Kerkez, Wirtz and Frimpong - business we needed and got done promptly. Hopefully we get a CB and we can then focus on the season: we’ve got a tough start.
I hope this is the case, not that I don’t want Isak, but it puts us in a strong bargaining position as a club as he is IMO not a necessity signing, he is a luxury signing.
It seems as with Newcastle’s way in their rebuttal of our offer, we have stood firm and Newcastle’s response will possibly make Isak even more pissed off wit them.
Sometimes setting our stall out and being ruthless says to other clubs that we aren’t pushovers
