Klopp might be playing a part here and telling Sesko to join Newcastle which would help us landing Isak.
His full name is Craig Hopeless Journalist.
Sounds like Red Bull are trying to keep Man U in the game so that they can keep the bidding going.
Sesko would have to be a fucking moron to go to Manchester, big club or no big club.
The demonstrable and irrefutable evidence is that it is highly likely he will not develop there.
If he believes he’s a top player destined for a top club he should sign a 3 year contract at NUFC, do the business there and move to bigger club in his mid-20s.
I dont see any European club dropping a massive transfer fee for a player and be happy for said player to sign a 3 year deal. It makes no financial sense for the buying club.
I do agree that it’ll need to be a career stepping stone, assuming neither Newcastle or United get their acts together and start actually competing. Long may that continue.
Fair point.
4/5 then.
Either way, back yourself in to be good enough to get a move in a few years. As things stand today, much better chance of that happening in Newcastle than Manchester.
To be frank I think it’s for Newcastle to adjust their thinking more than anything.
They’re pretending like they’re this massive club only a fool would be interested in leaving. Reality is that’s what they should be aspiring to now as they go through that process of building, developing and then occasionally selling players on for huge profits to help them with the next step in building.
It’s what we had to do but their ego is getting in the way. They still think “we’re the richest club in the world” when that’s just not true. They have a rich owner but the club is miles off where they think they are. They’re trying to bypass the 10-15 years it took FSG to build us up to where we are now despite the rules that are now in place.
They’ve played this so badly and now other clubs are thinking “if you value Isak at that and you’ve offered that for Ekitike then we know you’ve got a pile of cash to spend so we’ll add another 20% onto the lad you want from us.”
Feel a bit sorry for Eddie, he’s clearly been hung out to dry on this and even if they bank a big fee for Isak the rest of the window then becomes a scramble.
All the rumours, thoughts, desires are irrelevant, if they want 150 then we need to stump up the cash. Stop dicking around. We wouldn’t sell Nunez to Napoli for the exact same reason.
.
As it stands the situation appears as we are denting our own reputation. We are a club run at the highest standards and should always act that way. We pride ourselves on being an honest and champion club. We should not be treating other clubs as feeder clubs because we consider them smaller clubs.
.
That’s what a United does to teams like Everton.
Only really stands up if you believe what a Newcastle journalist said on Friday, the fact he’s already saying something else would suggest it was bollocks fed to him by sources.
If it is 150m and not a penny less then you do what Napoli did and walk away they evidently didn’t think Nunez was worth that and we don’t think Isak is worth 150m so we have submitted a first offer. Newcastle didn’t choose to negotiate they put out they rejected and were somehow aghast at it and tried to make out we were somehow evil to string along Isak only to now be suggesting Liverpool are looking to put in a second bid.
Did anyone beyond Craig Hope their mouthpiece say as such? And he is now saying otherwise.
Someone at the club is putting these ill advised comments out via Hope and then 24 hours later it seems someone’s stepped in and overruled it.
There is a reason he is training somewhere else and I hope its not us pulling a RM trick.
.
I would also doubt his sincerity if someone else came along later doing the same thing.
BECAUSE THE FIRST TEAM IS IN ASIA
I like these reports that he’s made a dramatic return to the UK.
Wasn’t expecting him to stay in San Sebastián forever like.
Bro, have you seen the mountains in the Basque Country?
I take that The Standard isn’t what it used to be. According to them, via ESPN Brazil, we have ended our interest in Isak and have made contact with Rodrygo’s reps.
Well, let’s wait and see. I don’t anything is going to happen until Newcastle get back from their travels and Isak gets back from Spain.
Edit: I see Isak is back.
Almost a palindrome there.
They may be but he was training with a different team. It’s not ideal.
I hope thats taking the Michael after the first quotes were he was stopping at home for treatment.
It is so nice to be informed about everything by the powers that be!
3 years is way too short for the interest of a football club even for the shambles that is at NUFC. 4 years deal will make sense for everyone.
We want both. That will be total Chaos.
We do need someone else to reinforce the forward options with Diaz gone and with Nunez and/or Chiesa maybe going. It would also help cover for the chance that we might not get Isak this transfer window.
