Alexander Isak (CF) Newcastle

I love ya Wilks, but all of the reports from Isak’s camp are that he is set on joining Liverpool. He sat out their preseason tour and trained on his own to try to force a move, not much else he can do. He can’t come right out and say he only wants to play for Liverpool because he would lose out on some loyalty bonuses etc. he’s under contract with them for 3 more seasons, so Newcastle still hold most of the cards here

I thought it must be something…but the other new signings were quick and over n done with…I don’t like this hanging about and waiting…

I’m already so tired of this fiasco. Move on LFC.

Yes we have to concentrate now on beating Spuds to Rodrygo and sign Guehi and whatever happens happens after that.

“‘Of course I’d like him to be (there), but whether he will I don’t know at this moment in time,’ said Howe.”

Alexander Isak sent forthright warning by Newcastle boss Eddie Howe after striker went AWOL to try and force through record-breaking move to Liverpool | Daily Mail Online.

I’m pretty sure that he has already forgone loyalty bonuses by refusing to undertake his contractual activities.

What has it been now? Ten days? It’s only 130m quid! FFS move on LFC!

"Progress is expected on a deal for Brentford’s 28-year-old forward Yoane Wissa this week, but a younger striker is needed to replace Isak. Until Newcastle have that, he will not be sold, even though there is a growing acceptance inside the club that his sale is the best way forward for all parties.

We are Newcastle United! :joy::joy::joy:

Don’t fucking remind him Eddie! Your only chance of keeping him is if he forgets😂

either way, i must admit i wasnt fully onboard with this move at the begginning, less so now…

more for football reasons than the noise coming out of newcastle…

weve gone big this summer already, and still have a way to go with at least one more CB

i feel like the numbers put on Isak are a reflection of what strikers are avaliable at the moment rather than a genuine reflection of his true worth

it actually feels a bit uninspired…Ekitike really interests me, Wirtz , absolutely excites me, Rio is an intriguing wild card in all of this…

dont get me wrong, Isak is a fantastic footballer…just not sure hes worth that much, to us, in this moment…

the issue is i dont have an alternative to throw out there…

the parts about training away i can ignore to some extent as he didnt travel with the squad for valid reasons, but thats over now, time to get back to work at the club you are contracted to.

im not sure how much we owe him in terms of following this deal through after what he has done regarding making noise at his end…

theres also the small fact that the season is creeping up on us every day now…slot needs time to work with the players he intends on being the core of the starting 11…

Sometimes the fiasco is worth it.

Virgil…6 month wait.

I also doubt he’s worth 150 million; all he has to show for himself are goals for a mediocre team and a trophy.

Did I miss anything? Afaik He hasn’t got anything else to show for himself, or has he ever shown whether he can function under pressure? Personal awards, played in finals, Champions League, international matches?

I understand that we see an opportunity because no one else is after him, so we’ll probably go ahead with it now, even if it has to be in January. We’ve already come too far to back out, I think. But I’m also not convinced he’s even worth the whole drama. I’d rather have a defender atm. We’ll have to wait for Newcastle to somehow manage to sign a replacement anyway.

It’s starting to get on my nerves a bit tbh.

Whatever happened to the lost art of seduction?

unfortunately we dont hsve that luxury…Jotas passed, Diaz gone, Nunez will go and so to Chiesa…leaves us Salah, Gakpo and Ekitike (doesnt know league yet). We need Isak ASAP

It has only been three weeks, too.

Let’s just enjoy the thrill of the chase.

I think this is a good question. A big part of our success has been due to the work the recruitment team do persuading the players to come to us - that must surely include a big commitment on our side that cant be walked away from so easily.

I think you can strip some of these out using common sense - as the sources arent reliable. Of the others they arent necessarily contradictory.

He doesnt have a clause we can activate, and the reporting largely suggests it is the club owner at Newcastle refusing to deal. It’s also not unexpected for them wanting assurances they can bring in replacements before allowing him to leave.
