I think the fact that we have not made any concrete moves for another forward probably reflects our confidence that signing Isak is only a matter of time.
They were willing to let him go in January if their price was met, and I think they may still have some financial pressures regarding FFP spending limits.
He has been pushing for a move as well which I presume means he’s still closer to “we found you in the championship and gave you your chance” wages than the “Kane’s heir apparent” wages he probably reasonably thinks he should be on
I don’t know if he said anything wrong though, at least what is cited here in this article. If the player group feels he is destructive, what can he do but hope it blows over or he gets sold ?
It seems as if the Toons are just waiting for another bid and it’s a strange situation they have put themselves in. Holding on to unhappy players fighting for a move, rarely ends well. Then on top of that, it’s a hell of a lot of money too.
As a coach you don’t care about a “distraction”. What you don’t want though is a situation where you are wasting training reps on a player you all know won’t be part of the group come the start of the season. Tha5 to me tells me they accept he’s gone
Some posters on here think they know how to negotiate including claiming that they are doing multi-hundred million deals themselves, only to laughably do a Ewar woowar and offer more than the seller would accept.
Personally, I’d be upping the pressure rather than the offer. Time for LFC to stop always being the nice guy.
Dear Al-Sandcastle,
Hope you all had a nice camel ride to work.
We wish to purchase Iask for £120m, we believe this to be a very fair market value.
Iask has informed you of his desire to leave your state owned sports washing venture, and also that he wishes to join Liverpool.
While we would love to make this deal happen, we cannot wait indefinitely. Our offer will remain on the table for the next 7 days, after which, we’ll move on.
Unfortunately for you black and whitewashers, this probably means you having an unhappy player, who wants to leave, but no club willing to meat your unreasonable asking price.
Yours Sincerely,
The Best Team In The Fucking World
£120m + £5m each for the PL and the UCL, £10m if he wins Eurovision, and £10m if he is the first Swede on the moon.
In all seriousness, I would not be surprised if this ends up being structured in such a way that enables Newcastle to keep their pride over the £150m asking price, but inclusive of add ons that haven’t a cat in hells chance of paying out.
I expect that email (verbatim) will be copied and sent by Hughes. I expect the first line will be the real deal clincher. I hope he sends you a cut of the deal team fee afterwards.
