I think we need a forward before the window closes either way. That both Slot and Van Dijk called for another striker leads me to believe that they’re going to make an aggressive push for Isak over the next few days, and then perhaps pivot elsewhere if they can’t get it done in this window.
I do think it’s likely that they go back in for Isak in the winter window if they can’t get it done by the close of August, but I don’t think they finish this summer window without adding at least one more forward.
"Understand Newcastle had indicated a willingness to engage on Isak, so Liverpool made their bid. It was made with optimism, which is why the strong and quick rejection was a surprise.
Now that it has been rebuffed, Liverpool will not engage without encouragement.
They haven’t walked away, and the saga is not yet over. But Liverpool only want to bid again if Newcastle make it clear they are not wasting their time. Should a new bid arrive, both clubs must be on the same page and then an exit is likely."

Alexander Isak will only consider reintegrating at Newcastle or signing a new deal if Liverpool directly inform him a deal is impossible this summer. Isak is waiting to see if Liverpool bid again. The club haven’t walked away as it stands, but have no plans to place a second offer unless given clear encouragement from Tyne-side.
It’s one performance, but I do think Ekitike looks really good. Will this alter our plans at all? Could we go for a much cheaper rotation option with Ekitike and a versatile forward of the Rodrygo mould?
I don’t think we’re going to be surprised or made to change course in our planning from one performance from a guy we’ve been watching already for years. It might make some fans sit a bit easier with the situation, but wont change anything that Hughes was already pursuing.
They did want to engage, at 150mp.Had we offered what they say he is worth then he’d be a Liverpool player already. We felt he was worth offering 110mp and the toon said no way. We await the opportunity to negotiate while they wait on someone willing to pay full whack.
So when you buy a house, do you just pay what the sellers are asking for, or do you consider the asking price, your potential plans for what you want to do with the property then offer what you think is a fair price?
I mean, I laughed my arse off when those delusional Yanited fuckwads annointed Kobbie as England’s best midfielder after a handful of games, but there is no doubt whatsoever that Hugo will be the best young striker in the PL by Bonfire Night.
