If anyone listens to the TAW - Neil Atkinson believes this signing will lead to LFC signing Isak.
They will move a few players around - like Gordon - and change formation a bit.

Strange move for Villa. I presume they are still under the gun with PSR.

Villa did seem to spend a bit more than what they could handle the last two seasons. Some high profile transfers too. I assume their expectation was that Emery would get them to 5th.

Their squad needs a bit of a refresher as well too. Plenty of known names but a not insignificant number on pretty high wages.

Was it Villa who were screwed over for 5th by a referee howler?

Yep. Was a shame.

Last game against Utd - win and they get CL with 5th place. It was 0-0 with about 20 mins to go and they had an opening goal ruled out for a very dubious foul on the keeper. Utd then went up the other end to take the lead almost after. Villa had been playing like shit and were a man down so no guarantee they’d have held on for 3 points had their goal been given, but it was a pretty big gut punch nonetheless

Howe sounds like he’s resigned to Isak leaving.

It’s quite astonishing how they have ended up in this mess.

Well firstly it can’t be an official strike secondary he won’t cross it because he is on strike.

Isn’t he feasibly the only one who could be on the picket line too?

Well quite.

I suppose it could be a strike by the way then again

I mean it´s not Isaks fault that they could not sign a replacement so far, the whole drama could be long over tbf

They can only fine two weeks, is that correct? Or can they fine, and then fine again?

to be fair to the club/ owner, its their right not to sell him. But in practical terms it would have been much better for them to plan for doing so from the point he told them he wanted to leave.

I dont know. Clubs are well within the rights to hear that from a player and say no. I mean that is what the contract is for.

Where it gets iffy is why Isak told them he wanted out and how the club responded at the time. But important consideration is that the Isak side have been floating that this is driven by promises not being kept regarding club progress and an offer of a new contract. You cannot really put your hopes of leaving a club who failed to keep their promises to you on the basis of them making other newer promises to you about helping you find a good exit.

Dont know about that. Think he’d rather sell the player and get it over with but it’s the owners who aren’t budging. Beheddie is the one who will have to deal with shitty squad dynamics and the fallout if they don’t sell him.

They can fine more than 2 weeks only in consultation with the PFA.

You know what? Fuck 'em. Their fans tying themselves in knots to justify being happy with a disgusting theocratic oil state regime buying them should never be forgotten. I sympathized with them through the Ashley years - he was a cunt and nearly destroyed the club, but that doesn’t mean you get a pass for supporting sportswashing scum buying your club.
