Alisson BECKER: 2020/21

I believe he has already been called before the assembled powers at the Club who have been unanimous in their derision of him. Word is he’s been in chains in the dungeon since Friday with the odd periodic educational and correctional flogging being administered.

For those wondering what the difference between educational and correctional floggings are; Educational floggings are said to be less strenuous with just the single flail accompanied by the soothing drone of ‘you must work regardless of any circumstance, you must work regardless of any circumstance’ with the aim of stressing the importance of work over everything with a gentler touch that is thought to make the vic… player, more amenable to the message. Correctional floggings are just your run off the mill cat o’ nine tails used quite vigorously and accompanied by the much more strident, ‘you fucking cunt, we own you’. They are also personalised to each vict… I mean player, with a video of Adrian lifting the Super Cup trophy being used in Alisson’s case (rumour has it that Mo’s is a video of Mané winning the Golden Boot).

I think he’s out today with his lesson hopefully learned.

I know this is all in jest in response to a poster elsewhere but I would be concerned if our club had forced him to play.

Well, it’s not built on the the values of a Victorian workhouse during a cholera outbreak, so I think we’re sound.

To be honest workplace practices across this country are at times just as bad, I was refused compassionate leave for a funeral for a best Friend (couldn’t even take a holiday as it was August) when I worked for the civil service, as a boss since then I’ve never done the same.

Im confident we will pastorally give Alisson the space and support he needs. Then at that point we have to trust it, as we aren’t close to the situation. Some players might want to bounce back and play right away. Others might need more time. But we seem like the sort of employer who will walk with the players through this sort of thing and get to the right outcome.

Indeed. Just picking up on this comment from @cynicaloldgit

Actually, employees are entitled to a week.

This is wrong. Employees have no statutory entitlement to any time off for the death of a parent.

Cool. I don’t mind admitting that I’m wrong sometimes.

Unlike some people.

If I’m wrong, neither do I; truth is much more important than any misplaced sense of being ‘right’. Unfortunately, there are many others who tend to just resort to personal insults

Edited, because I found the full statement. Very touching! Jürgen has a beautiful special way to find the right words.:cry:

It is lovely, but it also suggests he isn’t playing.

Well that would be the opposite of what he said today.

I assume that content was written a few days ago.

That was my thought as well. Better to go with the presser.

Jürgen’s letter is from the matchday program for the Chelsea game. So already written a few days ago but just published today.

Yeah he seemed confident he would be ready for the game tomorrow in the conference today.

Happy that he is back. Our only player with normal form yesterday.

Considering what’s happened, maybe you could say something about the goal but the rest he was top notch and the shot shouldn’t be got away anyhow.

Talking about that goal I wish our forwards would do that. No chance for the keeper however good. Fabs was crap though and Kabak no help not to mention Gini and Thiago.

Must’ve watched some Liverpool 80’s DVD.
