Andy Robertson (LB) to Tottenham

Interesting bit:

The north London club initially identified Robertson as a target for this summer and planned to be among multiple suitors vying to recruit the Scotland international as a free agent when his contract expires on June 30.

But that pursuit was brought forward in an effort to strengthen head coach Thomas Frank’s squad immediately and amicable negotiations between all parties are advancing as Spurs attempt to land the 31-year-old left-back.

A departure would initially leave Liverpool short of cover and no doubt spark conversations with Roma about a return for Tsimikas, who could provide cover until the end of the season.

By the way, if someone with powers wants to merge this thread with Robbo’s thread to Atletico and just rename it, do it.

Obvious downgrade if we swap Robertson for Tsimikas even for half a season.

Seems like another weird move and that’s putting it lightly.

Maybe it’s also a tool to start cooking a move for vdVen…

Told you they basically gave up for the season.

I love Robbo, but he has cost us more goals this season than Kirkez has and over way fewer minutes. I think he is very firmly now in the position of experienced back up and mentor, and while he seemed to accept that possibility of a new status with grace earlier in the season, actually having to live it is a different matter.

He also said that he really dislikes not playing, mentioning a game in which he was dropped/rested(?) under Klopp and he didn’t take it well.

Maybe he’s also one of those types who doesn’t support not playing for long and will rather leave/drop a level in order to play.

Question whether he gets that at Tottenham in the near future with the options they have. Davies’ contract is out, but he wasn’t playing much either, until recently.

Udogie is still first choice on paper, Spence (naturally a RB of course) did a job there and they’ve signed Souza yesterday, though who knows what’s his level.

As we have Dom, who can probably do every position, we can probably cobble it together till the end of the season if Robertson leaves.

It doesn’t make sense to let him go (unless Tsimikas returns until the end of the season, which also isn’t ideal) but even if he leaves, I hope it’s for a better club than Tottenham because he deserves a better club than that soulless shower of crap.

They could end up needing to cut a nice chunk of their first team squad this summer considering the numbers they carry at the moment, still bringing and wanting to bring more players (according to Frank) while there’s a very real chance they’re not in Europe at all next season.

Would be brainless to sell him now considering how short of defensive options we already are.

Was gonna say the same - Just what we need, less players!
Our squad is paper thin especially defensively as it is.

Robbo to Spurs…no no no…one of our most influential players on and off the field…need him in defence…and for all the shit games we have produced over the last few months…why would he go from 4th in the prem to 14th…if he would accept it..a rolling contract till the end of his playing career…and the get him on the staff…always loved Robbo’s play and would hate to see him go…

Robbo can mentor Kerkez…

This makes zero sense. Spurs have more left backs than we do. Robbo still has plenty left in the tank but even more so would be a huge loss in the dressing room and training ground. He’s VC and one of those characters that brings everyone together. There’s already been too much change. Hope he can stay until the summer

Ben Davies has been out since the beginning of the season and was ushered back into the team recently as soon as he was fit. In only his 3rd game back he suffered a bad injury that will keep him out until next season.

They’d still have 4 left backs on their books, and we’d have 1. Make it make sense

Only makes sense if we’ve got someone coming in. Preferably one who can also play CB.

Annoys me didn’t try for Hincapie in the summer. Arsenal got him on loan with an option to buy for £45m.

How much is Udogie in the Window?
