Oh trust me, I could make it worse.
Ye of little faith!
The light bulb above Arne Slot’s shiny head will be lit, and our boys will start winning! ![]()
Exactly the point the some of the parts aren’t as bad as they are showing.
I’ll drop my Auntie a line you can talk tactics, like she hates football but
Yeah I don’t think he has handled the heavy squad overturn well. It’s very tough to do but it’s clear that it failed. In addition there was staff turnover which has only added to the issues. Just a complete lack of consistency (after, what 10+ years of pretty consistent squad building).
By this point you would hope to see the new players getting to grips with the plans but as I said after Nottingham Forest I think we look like a team that have a style but not a strategy. We have concepts of how we want to play but are lacking any clear idea how to implement that into a gameplan. The result is it looks random and illogical.
To put it simply I think he started with an idea and has slowly tinkered with it until it has now become something unrecognizable from what he originally planned - and it would seem that he’s lost sight of what his original vision was now (and in retrospect I think this deterioration started in the 2nd half of last season).
Fingers crossed he is able to work with his staff and figure it out, I genuinely don’t think it would require much, but implementation is much harder than we imagine especially as players have to be willing to come along for the journey.
Two ‘Klopp Kids’ are available. Marco Rose and Edin Terzic ![]()
i know he had a few bad runs and is not the ideal candidate… i said ‘Gerrard’ in jest to be honest, but the more you think on it, the more it might be better than what we are seeing now.
If we make the decision to pull the plug on Slot and it’s to bring in Gerrard I think I’m done with football. If that’s the level of decision making at senior level we can forget about winning anything for a long time.
I feel bad discussing possible candidates in the Slot thread ![]()
I don’t want Slot sacked but equally am losing faith in him finding a way out of this malaise. Fuck knows what the answer is
Me too.
I never thought i would be discussing Arne’s replacement at the end of November after winning the league in May.
On the radio, all the LFC fans are saying ‘Arne has to go’.
Once the genie is out of the bottle, it doesn’t go back in so easily. We simply have to be realistic now, and wishful thinking won’t get us anywhere. Unfortunately, a lot of trust in this coaching team has been lost. That doesn’t mean we don’t hope things will improve, though. I just think it’s quite unrealistic now that Slot can turn things around because… something would have to happen urgently and quickly.
Was clear to me since United that Arne would not be able to turn it around.
Feels like Slot was never interested to build a relationship with the fans. Never tried to mobilize the fans.
If you look back to the Real Madrid and Villa match - it was a special atmosphere from the start. As if Anfield was trying to send a message. ‚We’re here and we can help. Just ask for it from time to time’
i think thats a bit dramatic to be honest.
we’ve now lost 10 from 12.
Gerrard might not be everyones cup of tea and for good reason, but IF something needs to happen in the interim, its probably best that theres a breathing space between Slot and a new manager.
lets just say the club want Iraola.
we’re not getting him in December without major upheaval, then he has to pick up these peices and put them back together in such a short turn around.
Gerrard (if memory serves me correctly) started at Villa well, started at Rangers well, and i have no idea or care how he did in the desert.
for every reason not to want him at the club, theres reasons ive put his name forward
he means something to this club and players will respond to him
hes available without paying compensation
he buys the club breathing room and an ability to further shape transfer plans around a future appointment
look, its not a hill i care to die on, it is what it is, but its got to the point where its hard to imagine he would do worse…and im shocked at even typing those words
Ideal interim boss is Carragher he knows everything could fix it in one training session.
Let’s imagine Gerrard comes in and he gets a tune out of them, sort of like Solksjaer.
Would it be crystal clear that he is an interim? Would he say that he is only temporary, to serve the club in a pinch, so it is crystal clear for everyone? Or does he harbour ambition for the main role?
I think Slot still has more time before we get to his removal, but it’s getting close. If he can get some results on the board between now and Christmas, let’s see.
The next 3 league games are massive for him West Ham away Sunderland at home Leeds away in a week.
-
100% interim with no possibility of the following season is my hypothetical reasoning.
-
the issue with giving Slot more time is the same as giving it to Gerrard…the horse has bolted, what happens if the same issues arise next season, its just taken far too long to adjust…
Ive been racking my brain is there any manager of a top team which has suffered a run like this and turned it around.
This is some serious slump, almost a lost the change room slump. Something is wrong in the management system. 4-1 at home is devastating. I genuinely feel for he players.
