It would have been justifiable at any time since the start of the season.
To me it stinks of Slot thinking his arse is on the line so he puts Salah on the bench for 3 games hoping everyone will say “ah, there’s the problem right there”.

I agree. It was a long time overdue. Arguably that was because of his previous excellent record, so Slot persisted with playing Mo in the hope he might show it. Eventually, with the run of results so bad - and there are many more factors to that than just Mo Salah’s performance level - Slot clearly decided it was time to bench Salah, play Dom in the half space on the right, and try to get a bit more stability.
Seems more accurate ![]()
While there are various legitimate perspectives on the whole thing, overall I’m disappointed in Mo for going public in the way he did. It just seems so unprofessional. It makes me think a January departure is more likely than not.
Slot may well go too, but to my mind he deserves a bit more time to see if he can improve the culture and the results, especially as a clearly better, and available candidate is not apparent.
Remember the petulant reaction when he benched him for the Frankfurt game.
Bollocks is this about the last three games
Yeah, I’m sure Fred Weasley and Lavinder Brown really loved the outcome
And since we are throwing our hats into the ring, my kids team are 3x Champions in the town where I live. Kids have been lining up asking to be on the team, and the way some other cheating coaches stack the decks by playing travel players in what is a modest rec league, we probably should have been on ESPN or something ![]()
Since John Henry cares about the $$, I’ll let it be known that I will do it for half the rate of Slot.
Think I said that two days ago
I see that the indykaila tweet was posted at 8:00 AM today, Dec. 7th. It’s not yet 8:00 AM in the UK, so Indy has his / their finger on the LFC pulse somewhere in the Gulf.
Anyway, this gets worse and worse. If Virgil actually is on Mo’s side in this, then he should be stripped of the captaincy. Give it Dom as he seems to be the only real leader we have left.
As for Mo, I wouldn’t give him the opportunity to wave goodbye to the fans. I wouldn’t have him in the squad for the Milan and Brighton games. I think one problem among many with the idea of having Gerrard as an interim is that he would probably try and talk Mo into staying. Given the size of his ego as a player, he’d probably agree with Mo about him being undroppable.
The only reason Salah was kept in the starting lineup this season is the same reason Slot is still in a job, past accomplishments and not merited on current form! Eventually though sentimentality has to be put aside and the clubs best interest has to come first. Can’t see either of them here next season so this is a lose - lose situation in my eyes.
We got in two pacey full backs that have the physicality to bomb up and down, and we play them mostly inverted (yes, one has been mostly injured).
We have Gakpo and Salah as the wide forwards in the build up, with Mo completely isolated when receiving the ball with two players on him and the (flavour of the day) right back going beyond him but into a congested middle.
On the other flank we have Kerkez, who doesn’t seem the most intelligent football wise, being asked to do things he is uncomfortable with. And when he does provide width, Gakpo would ignore him.
We have slow and ponderous build up, with barely any discernable patterns of play. We have individual errors mostly ending up with an invitation to the opposition to score the first goal, usually with the first chance of the game.
We have had several games in a row throwing the kitchen sink in the last 30 minutes to salvage the game.
This time last year, we were all discussing that Slot needs to rotate more. Replying on mostly 14 players for a second year is going to come back to bite you
All other Prem teams have incorporated set piece routines. We have lagged behind, in mostly the defending phase.
We have tried to make too many changes too quick. The first few games of the season were a case in point. We relied on last minute winners in most of them, and then the script flipped to us letting in last minute winners
We have a couple of subs still left, but a couple of gassed players remain on the pitch until we’ve inevitably let in a goal, only then to make way for the aforementioned kitchen sink.
We’ve somewhat gone back to basics on the last three games, though the underlying issues remain. Treat this as a transition season, yes, but then we need a game plan to emerge.
Did you just call Fede “the kitchen sink”?

If slot lost some the locker room it’s game over.
Doesn’t matter if Egyptian king goes.
If I were to guess who is Liverpool’s manager reading that, only one name comes to my mind…Brendan Rodgers !! ![]()
Here’s that dreaded interview:
Mo would be better served looking in the mirror this season. I’m glad Arne had the balls to bench him, it’s the only positive thing I can say about Slot at the moment.
I love Mo like we all do, one of our best ever. But he deserves to be a sub based on his performances so far.
No he wouldn’t , everyone’s seen just how bad a manager he is.
Maybe , but it’s still undeniable that we’ve been better without him.
He has been definitely made a scapegoat of the season . There are much worse players playing and still starting games.
I don’t think there was too much wrong with what he said, if you read his full quotes. This is a guy who is a serial winner.
And , people just don’t want to acknowledge the elephant in the room that he has not been given a platform to perform this season at all. That’s all on the coaching staff. Performances are still shit with him on bench. The fact is whole team is shite and it’s on the coaching staff not able to get the best of the hand that they are dealt with.
Slot looks like he has benched him because of the pressure by the suits upstairs in this case. Don’t forget this guy pretty much won Slot his first league. Benching him and making him the sole scapegoat is just conspiring to get money to fund more signings in Jan. We are a sell to buy club and Semenyo or Guehi ain’t comming without a big sale.
What have we become.
Football is shit
Players calling out manager and club.
It’s pathetic all round, and i dont think Slot has the character to pull it back.
Very little relationship with the fans or players for sure.
