Arne Slot - Head Coach

You are misreading or misunderstanding what I am saying.
He is a legend. One of the greatest ever Liverpool players.
There are people wanting him “ditched” in January. To me, that type of finish for a Liverpool legend is disrespectful.
Thats all

Arne is smiling…he knows what’s coming at the news conference.

I wonder if it ever occured to Slot to try Mo somewhere else, through the middle maybe, before bombing him out?

Wow ok. Arne has been speaking to Mo on and off and it was a surprise to Arne to hear that their “relationship has broken down”

Twice in a week

That’s not much tbf

Edit
Once briefly and once for a bit longer.

Whatever that means, could be 1 min and 10 min btw

Arne has a bit of the Rafa “coldness” as opposed to Kloppo’s warmth. That can make situations like these more difficult to manage. Especially if you have an emotional star like Salah.

Sounds like Mo had a rant but Arne was polite but firm. Arne says he is always polite and respectful but that doesn’t mean he’s weak.

Arne on Chiesa: “I like him as a player and I like him as a person.”

Basically confirmed that they don’t have a relationship and even today they didn’t really talk.
Slot told Mo he won’t be part of the squad during training.

I’m afraid it simply means he told him, briefly and succinctly, what the situation was. And of course, very politely. And yes, Slot came across as very cold.

Slot is Salah’s boss. Not his peer. He should be clear in his decisions, and he should be respectful in the way that he communicates to his players/direct reports. That a prerequisite for all bosses in any industry, and I’m sure that has happened.

Beyond that, we are getting into style and personality. Slot is not a Teutonic Care Bear (that is a compliment, from Men In Blazers, in describing Klopp’s style). Without being in the dressing room, I’m as certain as can be that Slot’s style is closer to Rafa’s. Probably a little warmer, but not as warm as Jurgen’s.

Salah is not getting the outcome he wants. He has moved away from being indispensable in Slot’s estimation. The style of communication is very much secondary to that core fact.

apparently heitinga was closer to the players than slot…The bottom line here, is the players are not getting up to play for Slot. There seems to be no plan on how to approach games and how to play and impose themselves on teams. Motivation is the managers job.

gakpo out a few weeks and salah gone to afcon. who thought i t was a good idea not to sign another winger?

Their frosty relationship wasn’t helped when Arne started messing with Mo’s melon.

I heard he began the conversation with,

‘Neither of us is in the squad to play against Inter.’

And it was all downhill from there.

I know I’m not a professional and nowhere near their standard, but I have never had to have a manager/coach motivate me to play and I played for nothing not even the adulation of the fans.

Not knocking AS here… but to me, he doesn’t look as though he has aged a day since he took the job… Not seeing it, but I hope AS has got the right team behind him in motivating and training our guys properly each day…

The dynamic this season has been completely different, and the impact of DJ’s passing has clearly weighed on the squad. Moments like that affect people far beyond the pitch. And just like any employees who hit a wall or begin to struggle, footballers also need motivation sometimes even more so because of the emotional and psychological pressure they carry.
While you personally never needed a coach to motivate you, and played purely for the love of the game, the professional environment is different and so is the pressure that comes with it. At the highest level, motivation becomes a crucial part of sustaining performance, helping players reset mentally, and reminding them of what they are capable of when life or form knocks them down. Even elite athletes especially elite athletes benefit from someone who can lift them, refocus them, and help them channel belief again.
And that’s exactly why great motivators like Klopp (I am in no way advocating for his return; that chapter closed) stand out: they understand the human side of the sport, not just the tactical side.
