Arne Slot - Head Coach

Of course it is relevant. Beckham left because he fell out with Fergie, Fergie still wanted him to stay. That doesn’t really fit with your narrative above.

Butt and Scholes are Utd/ Fergie loyalists with the chance to put the boot in on a rival club and are trotting out footballing cliches to do so and playing up to the caricature of Fergie being the Iron Man to do so.

Well, if there’s any bit of truth in this and Mo’s outburst was because Hughes/Edwards were trying to sell him behind his back, then I don’t really think he is totally in the wrong for coming out and speaking. This makes sense about quotes like “someone is trying to get me out of the club.”

This is deffo Hughes/Edwards vs Mo more than Slot vs Mo.
No wonder all these articles were floated about every minute issue Mo has spoken about over the years. Nice PR stunt !!

For me, Hughes has got to go !!! This scum agent has already shafted us by selling Diaz and now about to sell Mo.
Slot probably has no say in this either like he did with Diaz and looks bad in all of this. The power in the current setup lies at Hughes end who was clearly trying to engineer Mo’s exit behind his back.Mo’s rant now makes complete sense for me, to say the least.
Many people are asking for him to be sold, but it’s not like this is a player who has lost his legs or cannot do his job anymore. He is a serial winner and can still perform at the very highest level, in my opinion.
We will deffo regret selling him.He is at 8G/A already I guess…and he should still end up with 20 G/A minimum till end of season. So, by end of Jan, if we sell him…we will have to replace 20 G/A from Mo (in poor form) and 18G/A Diaz in this team.

Good luck for signing Semenyo as Salah’s replacement for 70 million.Isn’t he a left winger ? So we sell a right forward to bring in a left forward and who plays on the right ? Dear God…I hope it’s not Dom who might be the one sacrificed to play on the right.

Just sucking out all the world class players out of this club now…are we ?

Slot presser also didn’t help put the fire out.He said in the press conference that he has not had a conversation with Mo since leeds and he only informed him as part of a team conversation that you are not traveling. What are we doing here…just adding more fuel to the fire !!!
Since when did we become this..a culture to stand for each other has been completely dismantled into ego battles ? And now we are displaying that out in the open that there is no relationship between Slot and Mo.
When the question was were you on speaking terms with Mo…he says yes we were… implicitly not anymore (no relationship between them anymore).
Where’s the man management…the arm around the shoulder ? This is a player who basically won you the league and when things turn bad…you make him him the first casualty!!
What’s more telling was when Slot was asked …has Mo played his last game for Liverpool and he replied…“I have no clue” like seriously…why would you give that response as a coach ?

It seems very clear from most of the responses from Slot today that this is between Mo vs Hughes/Edwards.We all know only one winner is going to come out of that.

To conclude, I think Hughes/ Edwards want to get rid of Mo in the summer. But, they had to give him a contract , otherwise they would have looked like fools not tying the best player in the league. Now when the form of the entire team was bad…they thought of this as a perfect opportunity to bin him off. But, I guess they never thought that Mo will come out and speak.
Good Bye Mo…thanks for the memories. I hope you don’t sign for a direct rival !!
And, I hope we don’t become the new Man utd.

My post was deleted so I’ll say it another way.
It’s not my narrative! It’s an ex United player telling a story about how he saw his old manager dealing with big names when it became clear they might not be staying for whatever reason.
I posted it to open a discussion and get people’s thoughts on whether anyone thinks Slot would be well served to take a similar approach or not. I don’t - but others might.

As happens so often on this forum, someone decided (possibly through lack of intellect or maybe just to create a problem - it has to be one of these 2 options) to start discussing why the players mentioned left the club and creating a pointless discussion about that, which takes it off in a different direction and misses the very clear, obvious and relevant point and link back to this situation with Arne and Mo.
I really, really don’t understand why it’s so hard to understand!!

So, you will believe every one of the journos club has briefed to publish stories against Mo…including Joyce’s recent article, but anything that may present a different view must be ridiculed.

Anyhow, my post was not about what Indi posted, if you really cared to read it. It was of a perspective which makes alot of sense that Hughes/Edwards hold alot of power to dictate things over Slot and how Slots presser only raises more questions than answers. This whole saga to me feels like club wanted to get rid of him in the summer , but couldn’t…and now is the perfect opportunity.

But, I don’t blame you… that’ s how it is most of the times … Find the first line that doesn’t suit you and ridicule the entire post.

No need to get so frustrated.

It was a perfectly valid to point out that the United players were wrong.

If you state is it a good strategy for Slot to take a hard line similar to Ferguson. It’s perfectly valid to state Ferguson did not actually pursue that path.

As the justification for Slot to do something similar is diminished.

Lol, i wasnt having a go at you, i thought your post hit many points that many of us are thinking about possible scenarios, just indy is taking what is being reported and making up possible lines etc that you have alluded to and then making out he has some inside track and its all official.

My bad…it makes sense when you put it like that. Cheers

I can’t see this being the case.

We know that FSG aren’t keen to spend big on players ageing out.
We know that Mo was starting to decline in his ability.
And we know that the club was willing to spend big on quality players coming in.

The fanbase itself was somewhat split over whether or not to give him a new contract. Had the club not done so, I don’t think there would have been much of a back lash.

I think the club viewed it as a risk worth taking. He stays and continues to perform well, it was worth it. If he doesn’t perform well, he is at risk at losing his place in the team and will seek to move on because he wants to be playing football.

The key parts of the interview with slot for me that basically backs up what you state is that when asked if mo will return to play and Slot said he had no idea if he does, and also the almost succint line about talking to the media…he almost has a Freudian slip…basically Mo has been warned about posting anything /talking to the media…this is definitely out of Slots hands imo.

My god this place is ridiculous at times!! I didn’t state it was a good path for Slot to take!! Fergie did get rid of Roy Keane as I understand it - the other 2 players mentioned - I was quoting 2 players who were at the bloody club! What the hell is to be gained by nit picking and missing the point.
It seems to happen constantly here and all it does it derail conversations!

Everyone is entitled to their widely different opinions, we all have deal with it.
Swearing at another well respected poster because his opinion differs to another is not right. It could be been articulated in a respectful manner.

I read an article once that made me chuckle… A guy had written he had just installed an ‘up n over’ garage door, and in keeping with a colour scheme of the rest of his house, he was undecided about the finished paint colour/s he wanted to apply - He was erring on the side of a crimson red for door, and a dark purple for the central bulbous knob… Apparently he mulled this decision over for a week or two, but remained undecided… Until he said, he saw Fergie’s face, as he was sitting in the crowd at the match… and thought ‘fuck-that’ I don’t want to be reminded of that twat every time I open my garage door…! :0)

I digress :0). My point was going to be, Fergie was a bully that relied upon intimidating tactics to keep control - In this day and age, players wouldn’t tolerate beyond a certain point… doesn’t mean the breed of managers today can relay the same actions.

With regards the outburst from MO, there could be many triggers that have set it off… If cutting through some of the noise, bottom line remains… If MO left at the end of last season, LFC would have recouped no monies whatsoever. However, getting him to sign a contract, even at a ridiculously high return, means there was a good chance these weekly wage sums, plus a wad on top could be recovered.
That to me, is a good business decision, taken by a guy/s, who have their LFC employers interest at forefront of all decisions.
What final decision will be inflicted upon MO for his actions, to me, again will be made from a good business perspective - This, however will place AS firmly on the sidelines of what is to unfold in the coming weeks.

As for Scholes and Butt… growing up in that culture, and their opinions of same, meh… but they do raise awareness of the then and now advancements to life in general.

@Limiescouse will probably remember this better than me as I think he has also mentioned this before. But I think it was along the lines of his tackling or distance covered dropping and the club not identifying that this was as a result of his reading of the game improving so he just didn’t need to do as much of that as before.
