That’s bad. Workload is definitely a consideration but then why push the starters so long in midweek? Why start with a jones and Robbo on the bench when they haven’t played much recently?
I get there are challenges, but it feels like we’re stumbling through with each situation made more difficult to manage by the previous bad decision.
I have raised multiple issues this year of slots comments being difficult to reconcile…this isn’t a case of just disagreeing with his assessment but of his own explanation lacking internal consistency. Players notice that, especially when results or performances aren’t good and they are looking for clear direction to address it. That erodes trust really really quickly. And if I had to put my chips on the table this seems like the core of the issue this season.
No. Winning the CL would make it hard to sack him but anything less and I think we’d need a transformation in league results and, even more soz our play. Can’t see that happening; in many ways a flukey CL run and epic triumph is far more plausible.
Depending on the luck of the draw, we could make it to the semis before we come against any of the top dogs. Slot’s style does seem to be more suited to playing European teams, so I’d take us to beat anyone over two legs.
But I wouldn’t be so sure about winning the final against a top drawer team.
Yep. If Xabi is willing then I’d push the button and dump slot this instant. Otherwise I think he stays for the moment; Xabi is sounded out about whether he’d be willing in the summer and (if not) we assess whether another coach is an option sooner or we proceed with the plan to wait until summer.
Since losing on the 30th of November and embarking on the much talked about unbeaten streak, and I use the term streak loosely as it’s more of a slightly overweight middle aged plumber with a beer belly sort of plod rather than your average model doing her buxom thing, we’ve won 3, drawn 6 and lost 1 to record an abysmal 15 points from 30 in the league. In any sort of form table that’s pretty poor and has to rank amongst the most downtrodden of unbeaten plods in the history of unbeaten plods.
We’re now 1 win in 5 which can be classified just as form but it’s now for the better part of a whole year and at some point, hopefully this week to be brutally honest, the hierarchy has to stop thinking of this as a blip.
**Edit. Shit, fuck. It’s actually no wins in 5. 4 draws and a loss, 4 points out of 15…
Worse teams than this one have won the CL (2005 springs to mind), but they were playing above and beyond their ability.
This Liverpool team doesn’t even do the fundamentals right, let alone perform to the level that is required to win the biggest club competition in the world.
Slot inherited a team full of mentality monsters, winners with a feel good factor,
players who wanted to be here,
now some of the senior play like they dont want to be here, or are really off form,
he’s also isolated several players (Endo, Chiesa, Elliott, Jarrell) and the way he recently spoke about Ramsay was poor, and got me thinking about how he speaks to the players behind the scenes
its like Slot has sucked the feel good factor out the team, and ruined the togetherness that Klopp had built up
I think what worries me is that Klopp was an attraction for top players even when we were crap. I don’t think Slot has that appeal even at the best of times. If we get into the situation of not having CL football, I can’t see top players wanting to sign for us.
I’m not even sure if a different coach could add that attraction, but I think the perception of unrest would be off putting.
