Just so happens Xabi wants the same players we are already linked with. Its going to be a great partnership.
He is a hack, though. An equivalent of JJ Abrams in football.
Dude basically fed off Klopp’s legacy.

Nice, anything else?
Those would demand another big effort in terms of net spend and we don’t have as much to sell as we did last summer. Not to mention that without CL football, that list becomes practically impossible.
And I cannot be 100% sure of course, but I don’t know why would Olise leave Bayern so soon. That surely wouldn’t be an easy deal to do this summer.
Apparently.
Aside from the Indykalla bullshit, is there any depth to this conversation?
I really doubt any speculation to be honest. Its convenient reporting, Alonso is free, Slot is struggling so lets put two and two together.
If Liverpool exchanged positions with Arsenal, then Xabi would be the next Gunbers boss.
Conversations might occur, but I really doubt these reports have any insight into reality.
As I said if they do happen we won’t know until it’s pretty much done. I don’t particularly buy that we got Klopp to agree to come within a couple of days.
That’s my main beef with him as well. Use your freaking squad, Arne!
I’m sure talks are taking place. It would seem naive to think we haven’t. We probably reached out with exploratory ‘what if’ sort of stuff, and then as the poor form has continued, maybe a little more substance. At this point it would be a rel surprise if Slot is here next season.
What remains to be seen is whether the decision will be sooner, and related to that, what will we do for a manager for the rest of the season?
Alonso would likely want to come in the summer, bring a couple of players in and set the tone in pre-season to chart the course he wants. He is a man with a plan, a hands-on coaching manager, and if he comes mid season that sort of clean start is bypassed, and it is thus more risky for him.
So would we really be turning to Stevie, mid season? Not fully sure how I would feel about that.
Interesting times.
Doesn’t he have a reasonable release clause or something like that? I thought I saw that reported.
I think it was reported not long ago that it’s rubbish, that there is no clause.
I think the situation is clear. Slot hasn’t been good enough…that is objectively true. Now, there have been some factors outside of his control that have contributed to that. He is not a bad manager and certainly not a fraud. It just hasn’t worked out and that happens sometimes. I think the players do not have the confidence in him that is needed to be really successful. It is clear to me a change is needed. If the club still rate Xabi as highly as they did 2 summers ago and he is willing to take charge now, I think a change is inevitable. Especially going into a World Cup summer that will result in a different and condensed preseason, I think it is very important to get a new manager (coach, whatever) in as quickly as possible so that he can get his ideas across and assess the squad for the remainder of the season. I think it is already in process but as others have said, the club are doing it quietly behind closed doors. I can’t see Slot making it to the end of the season. I hate that is the case, but it is the reality, unfortunately.
Someone over here did mentioned a very interesting "what if " theory.
I am sure everybody remembers Brendan Rodgers and how close he went to the title…Someone mentioned , what if Slot is another “Brendan Rodgers” who managed to win a title?
The observation stuck with me for quite some time as the parallels are very uncanny.
Both coaches lost an influential player after an outstanding season, had a small injury crisis at the forwards.
They proceeded to struggle massively in the league after failing to cope with the change in their squad. Fans are disappointed to see the team so poorly coached. The playing squad is unhappy.
One didn’t even managed to make it to the end of the season the moment a preferred candidate is ready to take over mid-season. However, by then, the UCL places was too hard to reach.
Will FSG learn their lesson this time or repeat the same mistakes again???
Arne should take a piss in the Kop goalmouth!
Already prepared for the worst – nothing new this season, finish 7th-8th, play Europa League next season. Konate leaves as a free agent, 1-2 of Szobo, Macca, Jones, Gravenberch won’t renew because they want Champions League football. wasting one more year of Ekitike, Wirtz, Isak in the making.
The issue with Rodgers was that when it was time for him to bring his own stamp onto signings he was utterly clueless and a walking ego elephant along with it. Even I could see that from my remote and inexperienced position.
This is different and I honestly can’t pin it directly on Slot. I’m not saying it isn’t, but I can’t say that’s our problem and that’s directly on you.
I am leaning on our midfield issues being a tactical one but I’m not 100% on it.
The longer he’s been here the worse we are getting, needs sacking before there is nothing left to play for.
Long watch but again redmentv show a great balanced approach and reasoning in their viewpoints and as Chris says ‘I feel dirty’ when thinking Arne needs to go.
That is me, he did fantastic for us last year added so much joy towards Liverpool supporters and my life with winning the Premier League, so all those that have a go and call him a fraud etc. are totally out of line, have some respect,.

It hasn’t worked this season and It’s not for the want of trying, tactically he has been found wanting especially with the change of style in how Premier teams are playing, but he hasn’t been helped by the players lack of form and by balanced recruitment, which isn’t just on him.
Does that include winning the title?
Yup I feel horrible to feel the way I feel but as others have said, I don’t see any manager getting out of this.
opening day of last season was class man…week two was pretty decent…week three, we were good, but the cracks were appearing…ah the good old days of September 2024…
