But it is completely different as in football you can us multiple passes to create angles to move around a team that chooses to press.
Whereas in American football ‘rush’ is normally to prevent 1 pass.

Our press used to be the geggenpress and we built our team to implement that approach. But the Slot press is meaningfully different, to the point the geggenpressers cannot do the Slotpress and so we need a different profile of player to implement it. Yet pressing is a universal enough concept in tactics that its appropriate to die on the hill of drawing comparisons to an NFL pass rush.

You just described how football teams negate the press.
NFL teams and QBs also negate the pass rush, but differently. For instance, a QB draws in the pass rush in other to then exploit the spaces behind. Does that sound familiar?
In each case the principles and the objectives are the same…
We just need to allow ourselves to think outside the box

I don’t understand the comparison to NFL.
One is a game reduced to discrete coachable moments and set plays, where tacticians work to ensure players have the spontaneity drilled out of them and spectators have to sit for ages while nothing happens. And the other is NFL.
