Hard to argue with that. Slot is a good coach, not a ‘bald fraud’ as some ‘fans’ are saying. But he doesn’t have the charisma and man management to make us greater (or even equal to) the sum of our parts
Bit harsh on Glasner that!
We have those options now bar Carrick and don’t be silly.
There are some potential national managers who may be available. I can see why the club would keep him for now and if they are ok with missing out on CL football then it’s up to them. Just don’t use it as an excuse to sign fuck all
I’m getting the feeling that FSG are trying to be honest towards the man who got them only their second PL title. Aside from that, they do the long runs and not caretakers, not anymore - so, short term setback (hopefully) for long term gain (hopefully).
It’s a shame what we’ve become, a bunch of shrinking violets. Standards have dropped all over the pitch, players are scared of duels, especially in vocal away stadiums. Wide men can’t beat their markers, build-up is slow and predictable, especially when opposition goes man to man, gap between the players is too wide. And nothing has changed in months.
I was on the Slot bus for a long time. At this point very much feels as though he’s done here, and obviously it has been trending that way for a while.
What are we waiting for?
I suppose resolution on the biggest thing, which is qualification for next season’s CL. And we are still a going concern - just - in the CL and FA Cup. I don’t expect us to win either one, but I don’t see the point in sacking the manager at this stage, while those things are still playing out …
Especially if we have a new manager sounded out and ready to answer the call, but he wants to establish his own thing in preseason and the whole of next season, rather than coming in now to try to clean up someone else’s mess.
Arguably we could go for an interim to the end of the season. If it was Stevie there’s a possibility he might fire them up a bit, but I wouldn’t be fully confident that he would do better than Slot, even this season’s version of Slot. So I don’t fully see the point of making a change now while CL qualification is up for grabs and the cup comps still have to play out.
The scariest unanswered question. Only sanity remaining is the belief I don’t have to watch this same shit next season.
From believers to doubters. Well done Slot.
Any changes should have been made around Christmas at the latest when a meaning full impact could have been had.
I hear you, a lot of people were saying that at the time.
Obviously that’s not what the club did. Instead, they gave our Premier League winning manager every chance to turn it around. Even as one who backed Slot for a long time, his race now looks close to being run.
Only possible point would be the next break internationally.
Absolutely pointless then club looks even more a basket case.
I don’t think they’ll sack him before the end of the season unless we see a serious dive in form or there is some sort of mutiny.
There has been enough rumbling from players all season to suggest its not rosey which is more telling.
Yeah it’s this isn’t it. Slot is not going to be sacked in mid-march. And if it is Alonso the 100% next new boss then there’s no man out there wanting to clean up the mess in a caretakerinterim role like you say, because if he didn’t turn it around then it would be a career ending story for whoever put their hand up.
Slot either brings the success in trophies or he leaves in a mutual consent agreement in June. I don’t like when managers/coach’s are sacked, least of all at Liverpool, but the owners won’t let him see out his final year in charge like the Glasner strange scenario.
I still think that Villa are under the same pressure than us, if not more.
Why instead of sacking them between 3 day break of games?
To be honest, I would absolutely be sacking him now.
Most years I would agree, we could wait till the summer. This year however we have the world cup. The new manager will only get 4 weeks to work with the team for the upcoming season.
Longer we wait, more impact it will have on next season.
what serious dive in form @JibJab? We’re already scraping the bottom form-wise. At this point there’s no cliff left to fall from, just the slow, painful realization that we’ve been sitting on the ocean floor for months pretending we’re still swimming.
Tottenham Hotspurs
I suspect views like this are what led Spurs to fire Thomas Frank. And now they’re in real danger of relegation.
And the fans who forced their hand are leaving the stadium early ![]()
Sometimes not making a decision can be the best option..
