Arne Slot - Head Coach

Time to put every word under the miscroscope :grimacing:

Why bother his face tells you what you need to know.

Yep can’t disagree. We all predicted this today.

Still there’s a part of me that’s worried we haven’t made any enquiries.

Nope but given by the amount of investment in the squad coupled with a few smart youth acquisition in the team, it is expected that we make top 4 comfortably. But now? Fuck me…

I feel sorry for him, I really do, and I feel sorry for the players and the fans and for Red Whippet stuck in a soggy hut.
Mostly I feel sorry for myself and I’m off to bed in a huff

Thing is I’m no longer that angry about it.

I mean look, even in our rampaging heyday under Jurgen we would struggle in certain away matches with minimal time to recover from CL exertions. Brighton had time to rest their squad.
But this Brighton isn’t the Brighton that gave us lots of trouble during Klopp’s time. Look at their league results.
We were pathetic. And I keep repeating myself but why even bother having certain first team outfield players on the bench if you have no desire to use them? Then might as well have players from the youth teams/the academy there. Give them a crack.
I know Hughes fucked up parts of the summer transfer window and the entirety of the winter window, so he’s likely fucking off to Saudi.
But do what you can with what you have.

But Slot won’t do that either.

This is undeniably a mentality problem. That they were able to put a full shift in on Weds in front of the home fans, and then fall back to this, really tells a tale.

That’s basically the death knell for a coach at a top team. It means the players are just going through the motions. It’s Slot’s job to get them up for it.

  • I’m at the point where I get no enjoyment from Liverpool matches.
  • I’m at the point that I dread them rather than look forward to them.
  • I’m at the point where I’m watching this team and questioning if they’ve downed tools.
  • I’m at the point where I walk away from matches after 75 minutes because I know what’s coming, and realise I have better things to do with my time than sitting and watching this, just getting angry.

I’m looking forward to a change, and hope its soon.

I think I do also, having been served up the requirement to manage a team decimated of spirit by wholesale changes, it’s a wonder how the board were EVEN persuaded this pie in the sky could work.

As I mentioned in the other thread, nothing will happen until Hughes situation (and possible replacement) is sorted.

Unless it’s short term decision.

Took away two of our best three pressers and we sadly lost Diogo. That’s our entire front press gone. And then no winger so Slot can’t even set up the team to have a solid press…and on top of that Slot does bizarre tactics with the midfield setup where we frequently look like opposition mids are waltzing through empty space when we lose the ball up the pitch.

An omnishambles.

The players we bought are all quality individually.

But we don’t have a complete squad yet to fully utilize them

And we did NOT need Isak after getting Ekitike ESPECIALLY at that price, much bigger and glaringly obvious deficiencies both in quality and depth in other areas should have been addressed with those funds

And with what he had at the start of the season Arne proceeded to make things progressively worse.

Which has now drained any belief and confidence. They play well when the Anfield crowd prop them up.

Slot has zero ability to overcome the away deficiencies.

And even if we get the team rebalanced with incomings/outgoings, the loss of the players’ belief in Slot looks terminal to me.

Sounds like your passion for Liverpool is at an all time low…

The players we bought are all quality, but I still dont know how they fit. However I try and adapt, I dont see how we can retain a 4-3-3. Wirtz looks like a striker that plays in the hole to me, a No 2 to Isak or Ekitike, in a 4-4-2, but that will render us light in the middle of the park, and then we’ll lose the double pivot. If we have to now go and get a specialist Dm, that renders Grav and Mac, both redundant.

Who wants to tell Ekitike he is back up to Isak, once/if he gets back to form.

It looks a toy shop bodge at every level. These FW purchases destroyed our pre-existing structure.

Putting this inthe slot thread because this is an illustration of how much worse the players have become. What we’re seeing is not the real Gakpo

These are not bad players. They are players who all are simultaneously playing well under what we’ve seen from them in the past

Remember when Rodger arrived, one of his correct decisions was sending two expensive signings Carroll and Downing packing as soon as possible.

Such decisions will have to be made this summer. A formation without 2 starting wingers is doomed here in Premier League.

Do we though? Look at Carrick at Utd. I don’t think it would be that hard for an interim to get a tune out of these players.

Yeah, there is 21pts left to play for, and Im sure an interim (Gerrard) would get more of those than Slot at this point.
