Arne Slot - Head Coach

I have less issue with his subs as there really isn’t anyone, bar Rio, who has shown they can come on and affect that game. I’ve seen enough headless Chiesa cameos for a lifetime

We can criticise Chiesa all we like. The problem is the defence and midfield. They just can not get the ball forward when we are set up like today. Even Wirtz didn’t see the ball once he was moved with the musical chairs.
It’s give the ball to the defenders and leave them isolated, don’t even bother offering movement. Noone can shine under such circumstances.
It’s like we haven’t a clue. I certainly haven’t.

Why are we always relying on someone off the bench to save us in the last 5-10mins of games anyway?

Are the players that he puts the utmost trust in starting every week not good enough to get the job done themselves?

The fact that we have now not sacked Arne Slot yet and are willing to just slow cruise to midtable, when there is a chance a temporary replacement til the end of the season would give us a morale boost, as well as some tactical freshness, is simply an irresponsible way to run a club when so much money is involved. Not a lot of people on this forum earns millions of pounds. I am pretty damn sure that if any of you were partly responsible for such a massive loss in revenues, it would have had consequences for you, as it should for Slot. It is ridiculous if we end up not getting even Europa League, considering how weak the competition is in Top 5 this season.

I will never call him names, but I listened to the post match nonsense he said, where he did himself no favours. The bullet that comes for him, should have been fired at the very least a month ago. Irresponsible management of club resources by our executives not to fire him.

A new manager coming in with the ability to coach the players properly and give them a lift could reduce the amount of new players we need

No we don’t

Salah, Gakpo, Chiesa, Endo, MacAllister, Jones, Konate, Gomez, Robbo, Bradley, Alisson.

Either old/ finished, shit or perma-crocked.

Other than that though, would you say we’re about ok?

With or without Slot / with or without CL - that’s too much business to be done in one summer and more importantly there won’t be enough money available to fix it.

FSG need to wake up. Just imagine the damage off the back of a PSG hiding. Because a sporting humiliation is on the cards here. Not some gritty close ran game where we beat them by 1 at home, rather, a 6 or 7 goal drubbing is more likely. Szob at RB :upside_down_face:

I am in no way defending or making excuses for our current situation. I am as frustrated as anyone else.
My point is more about putting the ‘getting outrun in most of our games’ into some kind of perspective as It feels like the newest stick to beat the team with.

Stats suggest we have the highest possession figures in the league at 60%. So I would expect the other team to run more as we pass side to side.
As a team we have covered roughly the same amount of “Turf” as both Manchester teams. This whilst using only 23 players, 2nd lowest in the league. This list includes 2 keepers and limited game time for Rio, Nyoni, Chiesa, Isak, Endo, Gomez, at the same time competing in 4 competitions. This week is a prime example, Weds. we were out running Gala, and then having just two days rest the squad had a long journey south for a midday kickoff. At the same time the Brighton squad had their feet up on the Sofa.

As I said, I am not defending/making excuses. There will have undoubtedly been games where we have had a week’s rest and looked lethargic, not interested. I just think the stat (26 out of 30) is a bit misleading as there are many variables to be considered.

In regards to our problems this season, problems we could control to an extent it is obvious that as a collective the Club got it wrong.

I appreciate that I don’t know all the ins and outs but starting the season with only two reliably fit CB’s and not replacing Diaz was a massive fuck up. Endo, as much as I respect him was only ever a last minute stop gap.
Bradley/Gomez have a history of being injured, VVD and Robertson are in their 30’s, Salah also and knowing we would be without him for the AFCON.
I also question the value of the Quansah, Elliot, Morton deals. Elliot has lost a season of his career training at the Villa and will return to the club with a lower sale price.

As Mascot alluded to, I believe there is a gentleman’s agreement that Slot leaves the club at the end of the season by mutual consent.
I personally believe he will be replaced by Alonso or Nagelsman. Both have experience of working with Wirtz, Alonso is probably preferred being a previous target and having a connection with the club.

So, the worst case scenario is having Slot manage us for another 10 games. Maybe we should be positive and pray/wish for another 15 instead :joy:.

Let’s see them under a different manager before declaring that almost half the squad has to be sold.

Please no. Hell of a player. Not so great a manager.

I’d prefer not to have an interim if I’m honest. Straight to the new guy.

We’ve spent 10 years being one of the most attractive options for players on the move. Last summer was the Uber illustration of that. My concern is whether undoing that now. We were regarded as a pace that required hard work but if you committed to it then it would be the most rewarding period of your career. Do these players look like they are having fun? We used to be a team that if we were in for them there was a clear plan for them. Young players used to think they’d be given the chance to make their name here.

If we are going to make the change before summer, now is the time with the international break. If the permanent manager is available, so much the better.

If not, I’m a bit more uncertain as to whether or not I’d like Stevie or Rob Page to do an interim role until the end of the season.

Slot has surely run his course at LFC. The only question now is the timing.

Moving Wirtz to the 2nd striker was a stupid decision, he is the link not the spear
