Arne Slot - Head Coach

I trust Indy Kaila over Miguel Delaney.

If they stick with Slot I’ll be disappointed but they’ll have to back him financially. Two wide players, established CB, a number 6…minimum.

So it its Edwards and Hughes screw-up, no wonder they looking for a job in SA. Slot needed 9 players and these cheap bastards only spent $450m on 5, so we are now stuck with this brand of football. Worse than Purslow those two.

I wonder if this is the first shot in the blame game? And its not coming from Billy Hogan or John W Henry.

He won’t last until the summer as you said has almost been confirmed by an article by TIA that Alonso is willing to accept a managers position in the summer but he won’t agree to start in the last two months of the current season.

I coached for 32 years and the most successful athletes were the ones that gave everything in training no pain no gain!

Yeah and make sure they take their fucking text books with them!

Just that Alonso is ready to join Liverpool, but doesn’t want to take over mid-season. It says he felt taking Real Madrid to the Club World Cup before working with them was a mistake.

Nothing new really, and generally just hearsay.

And a new assistant manager…

I am still pretty sure that if nothing shows up in the next 2 months he will be gone.

In my time supporting this club there have been 4 managers who have reached a point where the majority of the fan base have wanted them gone, imo.
Souness survived for another 18 months or so until results got that bad there was no way he could stay any longer.. Rodgers went quicker, but still had some backing.
Hodgson and Slot are similar in just about every man and his dog had given up. Hodgson was openly abused inside Anfield and I think had Slot not won the PL last season he’d be getting to a point where he could suffer the same fate.
I just don’t think it’s a good idea to keep him on. There will be very little tolerance for poor form/ results next season. It could turn ugly very quickly and then where do we go?
Best for all concerned for a clean sweep. That includes Slot, his staff and probably a third of the squad.

Far from reliable.

either way, it opens up the debate…

IF he did stay, it goes without saying the team would need to hit the ground running in a big way.

imagine 10 games in, and the form continues, the pressure would be immense.

Very similar to Rodgers. He got a stay of execution that lasted only to October.

Would be foolish of the club to entertain similar with Slot. Even if we win the CL, it wont be because of rafa-esque tactics and luck against superior talented sides, it will be because of world class players pulling out some top quality performances and luck against superior coached sides.

I think the German fella, Axel Hesse, who got the Wirtz transfer before anyone is likely to be right about Slot. He said Alonso will come in to replace Slot in summer. He is probably getting his info from Alonso’s camp.

The likes of Ornstein and Joyce are very reliable for Liverpool, but they get their info from the club, and the club are hardly going to say Slot is finished while the season is ongoing and there is a CL spot to play for, and we are still in two other competitions.

As might Slot… but the big difference I can see is that for Rodgers, the obvious successor was not available that summer (Klopp had apprently been approached and decided he was not ready to take another job that summer.)

Slot’s “fan designated successor” is spending Real’s money on the beach and allegedly giving signals he is very ready to take a job this summer.

Has Joyce said anything.

As Ornstein it’s far from definitive and he isn’t as ITK as Joyce.

I haven’t seen that Joyce has said anything on Alonso. I agree that he is about as reliable as they come from a Liverpool perspective.

Hesse was reliable when Alonso was at Leverkusen, and he has some form for being in the know on German related Liverpool news.

We’re all just guessing, but if I were to put money on it, I’d say that Alonso is all but tied up for next season. He went to Real Madrid for the Club World Cup and regretted it, as he hadn’t had any time with them. That’s why he is reluctant to come for the tail end of a struggling Liverpool campaign.

My guess is the only thing that would stop Alonso’s arrival is if Slot wins the CL.

I fully expect the club to be supportive of Slot while an active season is ongoing. We have the CL to qualify for, and we are still a going concern in the CL and FA Cup.

I have no knowledge, just reading the tea leaves with the snippets that are out there. As such, I could be barking up the wrong tree. Let’s see.

They’re looking to do it in the summer, if they can. No point starting a greater crisis.
