Arne Slot - Head Coach

Rugby was like that for a while but some tweaks to the rules have made it better. This year’s 6N was the most exciting and highest scoring ever. I think football could similarly improve with some tweaks, e.g. time limit on corners/throws, yellow card/ban for feigning injury.

Bonus points for both winning and losing teams for scoring tries has also really helped but can’t see that being replicated in football!

Yeah but fundamentally it is very much a power and fitness game now. I actually love the chess like tactical side to it, but to win games you need that raw power, fitness and the organisation. Agreed the rules have made it a fantastic spectacle these days despite that power trend.

I feel football is stuck and needs something. Rule changes as you suggest may help for sure.

France vs Scotland we were running up to half time and I realized I couldn’t recall there being a single kick from open play for territory. It was glorious

England the only team still kicking flat out.

Anyway trying to find a way to segway this back to Slot. Tonight’s line formation looks like a scrum (?)

Stop holding and grappling, they are a blight on fast effective football as how can you execute a bit of skill with a grok hanging off you!

His small club mentality cost us the CL

Ok, thanks for the PL. It was great. Really.

Now we need new blood.

going out to PSG in itself is no crime, even the way we played wasnt HORRIBLE, but its the pure inevitability of it, the lack of real belief, that i think has marked time on Slot at this club.

Slot better start boxing up his office.

He’ll still be here next season because we’ll scrape into CL places due to everyone else around us also being a bit shite.
Then he’ll be sacked around October. Just a hunch.

Yeah, whereas last time we really pushed them.

Even if someone doesnt believe this yet, the injury to Hugo and quite possibly to Jerry and Gomez, it makes what was already a difficult run in that much more daunting and the opportunity to salvage something with a late run that much harder to achieve.

Silver lining. One less thing to save his job.

If anything this was a final indictment on the coach. The players were clearly up for it and had the full backing of Anfield. But there were no clear patterns in our play. Starting Isak was also a predictably stupid decision.

Rolling over and submitting in the first leg killed us

The surrender in France was the deciding factor.

I feel like you’ll be right. Powers above have shown plenty times to have too much patience. I also feel they’ll want to give him 1 more window given we’ll need about 4 or 5 incomings

He’ll be replaced at the exact point in time at which the owners will agree a contract with someone better than him. My bet is after the season ends.

Rodgers was sacked in October, but he was finished way earlier. But the owners waited for Klopp. As soon as he said yes, Rodgers was gone.

Now, they are waiting for their next top target, maybe Alonso, maybe someone else. As soon as their target says yes, Slot will get his P45.

I hope you’re right about it being sooner rather than later.

Hold on, they injured themselves tonight? All three of them? :hear_no_evil_monkey: :speak_no_evil_monkey: :see_no_evil_monkey:

Jerry came off unexpectedly at half time. Maybe tactical, but with the fitness scare he had last week you have to be nervous that it was because of an injury. Joe then only lasted about 25 mins as his replacement before coming off. If you wanted to throw the kitchen sink at the game and bring on Rio, Joe was the obvious candidate in the defense to do it so maybe he is ok, but you have to be worried about that being injury related as well.
