New Liverpool head coach Arne Slot will face the media for the first time and hold an unveiling press conference on Friday morning at the AXA Training Centre.
I was hoping if people looked at my team, it wasn’t 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-3. It’s a lot of freedom to take different positions. A lot of freedom when we have the ball. When we don’t have the ball, we want to be really aggressive. I wouldn’t say I prefer 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1. If you asked me, I’d have said we played 4-3-3. Full-backs have different roles.
So self-assured, isn’t he? Clear and direct, which is fantastic.
I was trying to work out Richard Hughes’ accent. Seemed to be some sort of Scottish/Italian hybrid. Also looks a lot like Captain Pike from Star Trek Strange New Worlds.
He grew up in Italy to a Scottish family and they didn’t move back the UK until he was about 14-15 so he’s got that weird Owen Hargreaves sort “WTF is happening?” accent
Was impressed by Hughes…speaks very well, very articulate. Handled the questoons very well.
Slot was very good, to the point, came across as his own man. Didnt go for the first question re a label. Seems hes not going to the hugging type, but did say its about unity and if a players not wanting to be part of it…cya.
I just watched Arne Slot’s first press conference. First impressions, I was very impressed.
Arne knows he has work to do and he knows how to improve the team. He seemed very positive and has a clear vision of how to steer the team to success. He clearly acknowledged Jürgen’s work and that the task is not too much because Jürgen has laid the ground work and already got the players ready to go, they just have to be adjusted a little bit to Arne’s style, although it is similar to Jürgen’s way of playing.
I thought Arne spoke very well indeed. He didn’t have any stand out one liners like the “Normal One”, but fair play to Arne, he is not Jürgen, he has his own style of communication and he is not daunted at all to take over the club from such a popular iconic and charismatic personality. Arne came across as quite a charming and intelligent person with a good sense of humour. He knows how to handle awkward questions by the press with a firm but laid back style.
He seems to have a clear idea how he wants to set up the team tactically. I think he will get on with the players and give every player chance to shine and help those players who need to improve.
I am really happy and reassured that Arne Slot is our new manager/Head Coach.
Welcome to LFC Arne, you have my full support. I hope you and your family have a wonderful time in Liverpool and you get time to see the beautiful city and the people.
