Aurelien Tchouameni (DM/CM) AS Monaco

Am I missing something here ? I thought he had already committed to join Madrid ?

That was what the Echo reporter wrote sunday(?), but then I think L’Equipe wrote something else the following day. Seems like he has agreed terms with both clubs, and is taking a few days to consider.

Apparent Yes, along with Mbappe, Pogba, Haaland, etc. All basically done deals.

So, no Tchouameni for us according to RMC. Oh, well… It’s been a while since we lost out to another club for a target.

Where did you see this?

Edit: saw the post in the Twitter thread :+1:

Oh well, he chose to be a cog in Real Madrid instead of being a legend in Liverpool. Let’s hope we show him what he misses out this saturday.

Nearly £70m would have made him our second most expensive player of all time and not even a guaranteed starter given we have Fabinho. I guess Real couldn’t risk losing face and being turned down by another target after the Mbappe fiasco so I bet they’ve just slapped down a huge chunk of cash to blow us out the water.

Madrid will chew him or Camavinga up and spit them out again like they have many good players so the chance will come again on one or both of them.

Glad I didn’t get round to watching those ten games of his.

Thought he was being touted at €40m Euros?

Paying double that smacks of post Mbappe desperation from Real.

Well, Kroos and Modric ain’t spring chickens anymore eh…So he would probably have that chance to make that spot his…

Was that last season?

Don’t think so

If it is that price, we should have been all over it at the start of this season…

He’s shite anyway. Massively overrated :unamused:

I believe 80m million was also mentioned yesterday, and the Monaco sporting director mentioned it would take a huge fee.

If true, I’m curious to see what our plan B is - if there is one. Could just be a player of significant interest to us became available now, so we went for him, without necessarily having a list of backup targets.

Until next summer when the next big thing comes along and they can’t help themselves…

Save our pennies and splurge on Bellingham next year.

This seems likely, doesn’t it. Just go with roughly the same group of midfielders next season until our next person of interest is available. Wouldn’t surprise me, there’s presedence for it.

I think we need one in this year and Bellingham next - maybe I’m greedy?

Sounds as if Carvalho is being brought in as a forward. Without another one in, would be reliant on Elliot and Curtis stepping up more, and hoping the rest stay fit, which I’m fine with (assuming Ox goes and Milly stays), but if there’s an opportunity to nab a decent young CM, do it.

Haha…well, these original sports funding dopers are still what they are lol!
