Aurelien Tchouameni (DM/CM) AS Monaco

A few years ago I’d be gutted, but now we are at the point our 2nd and 3rd choices are ballers… Your loss Aurelien.

Seen something ages ago that we don’t do plan B and Cs. If he isn’t ideal we don’t go for them. Like plan As only or we wait until the times right.

In any case, if it is indeed his dream to go to Real Madrid, I’d rather we not stand in the way. Be a name dropped to drive the price up yes, but I’d rather players not have an eye on an exit before they even join us…

Not bothered about players we don’t sign, only the ones we do.

There’s (almost) never any concrete evidence how serious our interest in any player, could be interest at a certain price, could be interest but the player has his mind set elsewhere so the interest never gets beyond that.

I think we’ll have other options.

Massively relieved.

Not entirely accurate. We’ll wait six months, perhaps a year for the right player like VVD or Konate, but they stayed at their clubs. We preferred to wait instead of signing a plan B or C

If we need a midfielder and our plan A signs for Real Madrid, then we aren’t likely to get him any time soon, so we can’t wait until the time is right if we need a midfielder this summer, we have to go to plan B or C.

Salah was technically a plan B, and I’m pretty sure Robertson was. Maybe others like Tsimikas. So it isn’t always a bad thing.

We do, Salah was the backup choice to Brandt for example.

After revisiting YouTube videos, he reminds me of Pogba, same physique, he just needs the hair, dabs and some shitty performances.

His name is way too complicated, zero song potential, unless you want to injure yourself singing.

He has huge potential for some serious character flaws.

He will be extremely depressed and remorseful on Saturday, RM will have to hire another sports psychologist, and buy a dozen buckets to carry away the tears. As well as an extra absorbent Mbop in case of spillage.

Comes from a Sunday league, a place where superstars go to retire, where prima-donna’s prance around, where potential stars fear the unknown, and love tainted money.

Without a doubt, an impatient mans Bellingham, with half the skill.

Looks really shit in red, it brings out fear in his eyes.

I hope the rumours are true.

Do we need to overlay the pie chart across each of these guys…

That’s a shame, he looked great in the videos I saw. Real have had the best midfield in world football since the Busquets, Iniesta and Xavi midfield and with Camavinga, Tchouameni and Valderve they look well set for the future.

As for us, it remains to be seen whether we’ll keep our powder dry or go for an alternative. Sangare looks useful based off his youtube compilation, if not a bit unsightly. As others have said it’s not as if we’re crying out for midfielders so I expect Klopp to only sign off on players the club are very sure about, not just the next best option.

Hmm, can we lock this thread now?

Need an official announcement. Quite possible we’ve agreed terms with Monaco as well, why else would we have been talking to him?

The fee quoted today looks £20mil (+ addons) above what was originally discussed. Does have a bit of a feel of a Real Madrid panic offer well above what we had probably agreed.

Possibly, still need something official though.

Why?

You tried spelling Tchouameni without copy and pasting? Pre-Match slating will be a proper ballache.

On the say so of Fabrizio Romano?

He stole it from RMC who are pretty decent I believe

Would like to have thought that we would have a better chance for this guy if real got mbappe.

Anyway , his loss not ours. We will get a better deal somewhere else. And as history has shown , our second choice targets often turn out better than the intial first choice
