Bradley Barcola (LW/RW) PSG

In the current market, I wouldn’t accept an offer of 60 mil for Gakpo. Far too likely we’d end up having to add money onto that 60 to get a replacement that is even at the same level.

Who would you consider an equivalent player?

You know what they mean so stop with nonsense comments.

Are you talking to me?

In which case what are you talking about?

Before we sell I’d buy.

However I think the Gakpo stuff is a rehash.

That we’re not just open to moving on Cody but planning on it has been one of those themes that hangs in the reporting of club connected journos like Pearce ever since he signed his big extension. It is frequently alluded to, but never elaborated on, and certainly not explained how tying him down to a relatively expensive long term contract fit into that plan.

It’s one of those that doesnt make much sense, but the stickiness of the idea makes it seem like there is something to it.

 I can’t name an equivalent off the top of my head but a player that I’d consider to not yet be as good as Gakpo is Yakuba Mintah and I’d expect him to cost more then 80 mil+

So it’s a real risk that we’d end up having to try and find a bargain signing and at that point even the bargain signings might not leave us with much left over from accepting 60mil. Actually only really feeling like it’s worth it if we have another wide forward in mind already and this would help us afford them and sign cover in defense.

All these replies had me excited there was progress wifh the Barcola transfer. Silly season at its finest.

Well, the silence can make a boy go mad. Mr. Hughes or whoever runs the shop better get busy soon.

Truth be told, i prefer silence from the club…all things being well, we’ll see some tweet from Pearce, and an hour later an official announcement.

It’ll probably move fast once PSG are sure of a replacement coming in.

Basically once a bid is/if accepted then it will probably be pretty quick.

Yeah tbh was just curious what level you rate him as in terms of similar quality players

Not necessarily players we could or would buy

Hughes must be having problems contacting PSG. Maybe they’ve taken the phone off the hook. (For those on here who remember landline phones)

I’m just hoping this is some kind of secret code for “it’s almost done.” If we’ve really only just started talking, it’s going to take at least another two weeks to get everything worked out.

Well the club weren’t going to pay for Hughes to get Super Duolingo when he was already on the way to Saudi and Trent wouldn’t share the password so he had to learn French using the free tier before they could start talking.

I imagine they have seen what we spent on Wirtz last year and consider that a benchmark, with Barcola´s champions league experience too.

But 170 mil Euros is just too much.

If not Barcola, who do we go for?

Well, there’s the ones besides Barcola that were mentioned as Diomande alternatives: El Mala, Minteh, the guy at Lille. Fernandes-Pardo?

Others that have been discussed: Abde, Nusa, Schjelderup, Brahim Diaz if Madrid decide to let him go.. probably some I forget.

OR..maybe Vini :eyes:

The good news is there’s always someone we don’t know about, that the clubs know about, who are about to become known to us.
