I actually feel like that about most players now. Huge amounts of money for someone that feels like a journeyman.
I don’t know if this just the amount of money in the system now, or whether it’s a bubble about to break.
I can recall when Trevor Francis became the first £1million player it more than doubled the record and there were a few others around the same time before it settled down. We didn’t spend out that much for another 10 years.
I don’t know enough about either the finances or potential signings to know if it makes sense.
I suppose the other thing is that Iraola has only been through the door for 10 minutes and hasn’t even trained with all our players yet.
If he is seen as adequately filling a gap in the squad then so be it. I just don’t want us to end up with an unbalanced squad full of expensive white elephants.

Barcola feels like the same uninspiring option that Frimpong was, minus the reasonable fee.
It’s not that he isn’t a good player, but I don’t know how much of a difference maker he will turn out to be.

It was not meant to be a criticism. It is something I think about when people put up stats and I have mentioned it previously. Ultimately going for a player still feels more like grandma’s cooking rather than following a scientific protocol.
