Bradley Barcola (LW/RW) PSG

In another universe he is a 40m player coming here to be turned into a world class one like Mane, Salah, Firmino, Diaz etc but of course the world doesn’t work like that anymore and every man and his dog is worth at least 50m.

Ultimately we’re short in the wide areas and the options out there are very limited.

Not so much the player but the price is steep

Can he play RB or CB?

Then it’s not a Granny or a proper one!

Saw this comparison online. Would still be excited for Barcola if we can get the price down a bit.

Also want to hold on to Cody!

What’s right with it ?

Nail on the head. We’re buying potential for the price of the finished article.

Though I do think it would help the fanbase to have a big signing to get excited about. I was sick of the site of our current cohort by the end of last season

Same stupid haircut too.

Just sensible signings will do for me need some piano carriers as well.

Cornrows and braids are the oldest recorded hairstyles in human history. Anyone who has a problem with this, or any haircut, should probably ask themselves why

He turns 24 in September, has played first team football for five years, has over 150 appearances for one of the best teams in Europe in the last few years, has won a host of trophies and is capped 30 times for a country who probably has the best array of attacking talent in world football.

You’d almost hope at his age he’s not the finished article but he’s a world away from buying potential or being a Salah/Mane type that you were hoping could take that next step up.

Silly money either way but who isn’t costing silly money these days.

I don’t think he is a world away from where Mo and Mane were when we bought them.

Hopefully a similar trajectory and we’ll forget about the silly money!

if this was a smash-or-pass, I’m going with pass

if we’re gonna take a LW off PSG, I’d rather take Kvaratskhelia for the kind of money they’re throwing around…

With the best will in the world two seasons in Austria and two at Southampton is a very different path to Liverpool than Barcola’s would be.

The price you’re paying is for the greater certainty he can perform at this level already whereas Salah and Mane we were taking the risk of them being able to make that step up.

But these days your Salah or Mane deal would cost you £60-£70m. I see someone like Semenyo or Mbeumo as a much more a comparable deal to the Mane one with both going in that £60-£70m range.

End of the day it’s not my money and better spent and on the pitch than sat in a bank whilst we’re playing Szoboslai as an emergency winger.

For me Barcola is not the finished product but has all the goodies you need for it. If he comes it will be fascinating to see how Iraola develops him into the player he can be.

Would you yeah? Might aswell stop off in Munich and Barcelona and see if we could land Olise and Yamal while we’re at it.

I love how we back up the half-billion-that-didn’t-go-perfectly last year with another PL transfer record.

Big balls.

But who else could we buy who would be more of a difference maker?

Genuinely I can´t think of anyone who clearly would come in and be better, even Diomande probably.

In another thread i debated whether Nico Williams was better but he is a good shout as a cheaper option at least.
