Bradley Barcola (LW/RW) PSG

I really want to get back to how we were before, hidden gems then polishing them and turning them into diamonds.

There has to be hidden gems out there.

Brighton, Bournemouth and Brentford has no problems finding them!

I agree in general that our approach has been a bit of a shambles but how are Camara and Kone any more suited to playing against a ´low block´ than Barcola?

They´re not particularly good passers or incisive.

At this point it wouldn’t surprise me if it’s Mbaye and Barcola it at least saves some face and it’s not like we can’t afford it, we aren’t stuck by financial issues because we have the scope to do these deals even if Gakpo stayed and some very serious billionaires have just bought a minority stake, capital is there.

We can’t use that capital.

The Three Pillars of FSR (UEFA)

The modern regulations govern club viability through three distinct rules:

  • Solvency (No Overdue Payables Rule): Clubs must prove every quarter that they have no outstanding debts to other clubs, employees, or tax authorities.
  • Stability (Football Earnings Rule): Replaces the old “break-even” rule, allowing clubs to lose a maximum of €60 million over a three-year period (provided the losses are covered by secure owner injections).
  • Cost Control (Squad Cost Rule): Dynamically restricts total spending on player/coach wages, transfer fees, and agent fees to a permanent cap of 70% of the club’s revenue.

(PSR/SCR)The Premier League currently utilizes a dual system depending on the season:

Regulation Core Metric Current Status
Profitability & Sustainability Rules (PSR) Limits net losses to £105 million over a rolling 3-year period. Being phased out, but still carries point-deduction penalties during the transition.
Squad Cost Rules (SCR) Caps spending on player wages, transfers, and agent fees at 85% of club revenue. Being trialled in “shadow” form before becoming fully mandatory.

We can’t use the money immediately.

Not anymore. It’s only when there’s a full takeover with a new management team that we should be in a position to spend more.

Hopefully with a sorted management team in place.

It’s not that though. I’m making the point we have the capital to spend it. We have a scope of say 200m we don’t want to spend that as though our in goings and so on amount to that leverage, the cash and so on isn’t readying available as I believe everything we did was covered by income. That’s no longer an issue as the club can say cover setting up club shops or other expenditure outside of that with this investment.

I totally understand that Bezos millions can’t be spent but there is a fair bit of space on our balance sheet and inward capital can be used.

It’s like FFP or whatever it is now, says you have 200m but we have spent 100m of that elsewhere on Costs not covered. I would assume that kitty can be filled up or the costs not covered can be refilled.

It is a Level we are not close to reaching yet.

They have different expectations from them. You yourself would go into full meltdown if we signed a 20 year old from Peru you haven’t heard off.

And the different expectations come with far greater patience for development. It was Mbuemos 4th pl season where he finally got to double digits with goals. Doubt the vast majority here would have the patience to allow that growth.

So, uh, what happened with this fabled meeting yesterday?

It was canceled because Hughes had to take a plane for Saudi Arabia, in order to sign his contract with that Saudi club.

It was a meeting to decide when to circle back to have the next meeting, which will determine if there is enough there to start actual discussions.
