I thought this deal was agreed on Thursday? What’s this today, they’ve agreed on the deal they’ve already agreed on? When is the actual agreement?
Deal was agreed in principle, as those first reports stated they needed to finalise the finer details - likely including this £5m payment to Lyon - which they’ve now done.

Does anyone find this an ever so slightly strange move from Barcola?
He’s coming into the prime of his career, leaving the current back to back Champions League winners, one of the richest clubs in the world, in his home country, guaranteed title winners.
To join…us. A club in transition, where things are clearly not operating at their best, where a run to the latter stages of the CL would be an achievement and a title challenge unlikely. We’ve got precious little history of French players, Iraola would surely be a relative unknown, particularly in comparison to the likes of Enrique.
It just feels like a strange move.
And it’s our most expensive ever.

A little bit but after reading the piece in the athletic slightly less so. He seems to be the type of guy willing to take a step back to move forward.

He is leaving all that, so it is strange, until you realize he is now way down the pecking order there. So PSG, great team, rich, back to back European Champions etc. But he’s increasingly a bit part player.
Or come to Liverpool, still get your huge wages, only now you have a platform to show the world what you can do, week in week out. And if it clicks at Liverpool we will be fighting for the biggest prizes too. As things stand there’s work to do.
