It’s a recurring theme isn’t it? The worst, the biggest, the most rain. I wonder why that is
It’s obviously because those pesky woke snowflake weather forecasters keep sensationalising temperatures and putting them in alarmist colours!
As if they’ve never seen a warm day before!
I’ve just seen a report on the effects of the typhoon in Vietnam. It looks terrible with over 200 fatalities.
I hope your mother and the rest of your family are safe.
Thank you. My family is in Hanoi and I was told that a potted plant and a part of the roof was blown away, but nothing more than that. Nobody can go anywhere though because water is everywhere.
But the farmers suffered a lot in just a few days. Food security will be a big problem. And this is just the 3rd typhoon of the season.
Is that the same one?
Remember this story, the police were too scared to investigate initially, in case they were called racist caused an uproar in my old town
News from a couple of days ago.
Sexual abuse of minors can happen in any country. In this case it’s a major one with so many victims and perpetrators involved.
Wasn’t it the case that they were also dismissive of the victims, saying they were “asking for it”?
Not sure if it was the racism bit that really stopped them if I’m being honest.
EDIT:
The press release about the report in question: IOPC publishes report into South Yorkshire Police’s handling of Rotherham child sexual abuse investigations between 1997 and 2013 | Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC)
The report itself: Operation Linden | Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) (I’ve skimmed through the executive summary, and no mention of racism but lots of criticism about the systemic failures of the police.
An article I could find about the supposed fears of racism features denials by officials that it was the case, and in any case, points the finger at any supposed fears of claims of racism at the council, rather than the police.
My main conclusion is that any “concerns about racism” were probably fear-mongering by the right-wing cesspit as per usual.
The majority of people in Rotherham are left wing as it is a working class town built on the Steel & Pit Industries and the people, old friends that were making those claims.
This was put out around to try to deflect from the actions of police and social services. They want people to look at the profile of the perpetrators rather than the victims, because those in authority were effectively vetting them.
Political alignment is useless here. You’re telling me one can’t be left-wing and also simultaneously racist?
No I never said anything like that it is that you just blamed ‘Right wing Fear-mongering right-wing cesspit as per usual’ you were making the sweeping statement not me!
Sorry, I should have been clearer that it’s the right-wing media I’m blaming, not people who are right-wing in general.
Just had a colleague from Cologne on the phone. Apparently it took him forever to get into the office because a bomb went off in the centre of town, causing various roads to be diverted:
The article seems to indicate that it has the MO of Dutch drug gangs.
Shanghai is currently being battered by the strongest typhoon in that region for 70 years.
Pathetic sentence handed to Huw Edwards
I think that is fairly standard for offences of that nature. I don’t think anyone seriously expected a custodial sentence unless they wanted to make an example of him.
Sex offender - 6 month suspended sentence.
Sausage roll thief - Locked up for 20 months.
I’ve searched for this online and there is just one tweet on X. Nothing else to verify this claim.
I smell BS.
