He seemed a normal bloke with a moral compass, who rose up through the ranks from humble beginnings. The country was better for it.

The Norwegian citizen in question has now admitted to have gathered intellience for Russia and Iran. He is also charged with damaging the security of another state.

Norwegian police has print outs of conversations and instructions he had with his Russian Case Officer.

I google translated for you. If you click on this link, it will be in English:

Mind you, some of the language in the translation is funny due to Google’s inabillity to properly translate Norwegian.

‘Together with a man with both Norwegian and Eastern European citizenship, the accused runs a security company. There are no registered employees in the company.’

And they didn’t consider that to be suspicious when he was being vetted ? :astonished:

He was one of my favourite politicians. A no nonsense Welsh- northern man with a great northern sense of humour, a proper Labour man. He cared and fought for the underprivileged and social justice.
RIP John Prescott.

He was also an important figure in the UNFCCC climate process back in the days when we actually thought that might achieve something. He provided genuine leadership in breaking some logjams, and came very close to achieving quite a bit more (a EU-US compromise that he had worked very hard on collapsed at the finish line).

It is unfashionable these days to think well of that Blair government, but climate diplomacy is much the poorer for the UK exit from the stage.

I don’t have time to post about all the places erupting in chaos in the world, but I advise people to keep a close eye on Georgia and maybe google what is happening there now (if interested in what is happening in the world of course). I assume people remember the remarkable demonstrations there a while back. Well…

Example:

It’s heartening, but I’m afraid the Russians will use their usual tactics.

Call me cynical, but the demonstrations didn’t work out the last time either…

I really hope they can work out. I have a feeling a significant part of the population really does not want to be drawn into the Russian orbit. Given the non-government sponsored opinion polling, it seems that it might well be a majority there. I’m wondering if we might end up seeing another Maidan situation there if the government persists with its actions.

Of course I have very little knowledge in this area, but it doesn’t seem too impossible, especially if they might be inspired by Ukraine.

Scratches head

Something is happening:

Or it’s just Asian authoritarianism, I don’t really know. This came a bit out of the blue for me. I have only a cursory eye at Korea really.

But: President of South Korea Yoon declares martial law, “I will eradicate pro-North forces and protect constitutional order”

" Southe Korea emergency martial law declaration: lawmakers urgently summoned to National Assembly"

Seems like this is just Korean domestic political drama. But the headlines now popping up now, lol

Why cannot these authoritarian minded politicians think of the blood preasure of an innocent news-browser
But I am only guessing. It’s just out of the blue.
The president is calling up all lawmakers and gathering the commanders of the armed forces, so maybe this is something far more significant. But there has been no North Korean military movement of note.

According to the president, martial law is necessary to protect the country’s constitutional order, which is threatened by the opposition, which according to him “controls the parliament, sympathizes with North Korea and paralyzes the work of the government.”

Very strange messages coming out of Korea. Putting the armed forces on full alert.
