given it was true maybe the rumours werent ‘baseless’…and the use of the word ‘coincidently’ just seems like an odd fit…
i understand why its important to rush to defuse situations, but its this rush to difuse that sometimes escalates things…
and no…i dont have the answer on what to do…maybe something along the lines of strong leadership and understanding counterviews, but you dont get that on either side of politics anymore…just escalate, escalate, escalate…

Sara Sharif’s father attacked in prison after being jailed for murdering 10-year-old
Urfan Sharif, who was jailed last month for the murder of his 10-year-old daughter Sara Sharif, has been attacked in Belmarsh Prison.
He is understood to have suffered slashes to his face and body, requiring stitches.
He received local care inside prison.
A Prison Service spokesperson told Sky News: "Police are investigating an assault on a prisoner at HMP Belmarsh on 1 January.
“It would be inappropriate to comment further while they investigate.”
A spokesman for the Metropolitan Police said officers are probing “an allegation that a prisoner was assaulted at Belmarsh”, adding that “the 43-year-old suffered non life-threatening injuries”.

But sure, someone start talking about Iraq and Afghanistan (which is hardly as controversial as Iraq 2.0) and pretend that it’s the same and that Trump, unprovoked, starts threatening annexations, is in any way the same. I am out of such a discussion at least, but I am sure many will agree to uselessly debate the various lesser forms of imperalism short of territorial conquest.
I become incredibly uninterested when Afghanistan is brought up in comparison to imperial land grabs where one incorporates another land into ones own.

Anyway, I don’t think the US is going to invade obviously, but the threats, out of the fucking blue, are rather prepostrious, I would think. It is not as if this is provoked in any sort of manner. It’s pure imperial wannabee Strong Man bullshit, aimed at allies. And it is beyond ridiculous. and also quite alarming. Because it’s clear this is not just something “he says”. It’s going to be policy, to be antagonistic and to threaten friends and allies and seek to take their land through threats and economic pressure.
