Exactly, I think the Biden administration is more worried than gleeful. What came out of Washington last night was not “cheerleading”, but more cautious:
If this was a US led colour revolution, I would say it is more likely that it would have contained more than one word about the democratic aspirations of the Khazak people and so on.
It is worth noting that increased gas prices made the Khazak people tear down statues of the Sultan (shadow president) who is responsible for a balance of relations between Khazakstan and Russia and the West. The old regime is now gone, and with CSTO troops keeping the peace and Khazakstan forced to call them in, the effects of this is likely to be a very close relationship with Russia and more distance to the US.
Because this is a Pro-Russian perspective that people should know about. That collapsing the old regime and asking Russia for military aid, well, it cements Russia’s position and grants it political power over Kazakhstan.
I remember Bill Oddie on Country File once talking about Blue Tits flying in and out of their nest…
As per usual…
Oddie had consumed a few scoops or a whole bottle of wine before presenting in front of the cameras, so obviously he was feeling merry and in good spirits… when discussing these birds with his co-presenter… he suddenly blurted out
Tits like Coconuts…!
Well on realising what he had just uttered… the giggles started between him and this other guy for a good few minutes!
Funny how things stick in your mind eh… especially when tits are mentioned :0)
The video with the sound of fighting is from tonight and not yesterday, just in case some think it is old and it is over.
And that is all I have now. Good night.
@Magnus - lots of information to pick through. You clearly have an extremely in depth grasp on what’s going on, far greater than I could ever hope to gain in just a few hours of reading your links.
Could you just let me know when the end of the world is coming? I would like, maybe, a week’s notice at least. That’s all I ask.
Really great how you get all this info. Not a corner of the world many of us could really know. Even if I think my grandmothers familly from my fathers side came from there I haven’t really looked into it in much depth (partly because it didn’t seem easy when I did try and being fainéant (lazy)).
If they are flying troops in all the way from Belarusse it must be very worrying for Putin I should imagine.
Probably no. That’s what informed sources (professors on twitter) claim at least.
Edit: They think this intervention is a too small scale (3000 soldiers to a mostly friendly country, and the operation in Kazakhstan probably won’t take forever) and doesn’t tax Russia much at all. It doesn’t change their force posture much at all. At most, it delays reinforcements originally meant to go to the border with Ukraine. But maybe not even that, they can shuffle around and the Russians are very competent.
