Mainz doing a bit of a number on Leverkusen here, they haven’t really been able to create many if any clear chances for themselves and SVDB has been paramount to that cause. Counted 8 headers he’s won lol, not lost 1. Few vital interceptions in there too.

Be interesting to see how he fares in a back 4.

There was chatter about him doing extremely well at Mainz.

He could be Matip’s ready-made replacement

Oh my word Zendtner   :man_facepalming:

By hook and crook…If they can play a little bit calmer…

2-1

keeper gift

WOW, what a howler by the GK

Does a full Karius…

what i really like is how quick they play…would suit macca and dom…even ryan… xabi will be screaming at curtis to release the ball

Oooof, that’s an awful tackle ON Xhaka.

Shocker, has to go for that I’m afraid.

Oh. Not even a review? Just a straight upgrade??

that should be a red

It was.

Red card for Ngankam…

the key thing for me is the control.

which then builds the base for the sudden change of pace and passing intensity…

yes!! i dont understand why cara says they are more man city than lfc… they do have a lot of the ball but transition very quickly with it… they dont pass around like man city… they are very offensive and direct

That’s an easy one: it’s because he doesn’t know what he’s talking about.

Surprised Mainz are all the way down there, defo didn’t feel like a game that was top v (2nd) bottom. Leverkusen made hard work of that.

I think it comes from looking at the control phase of their build up.
But the quick transition to a high speed passing game and/or direct play is more LFC.

I would take most of the current attempts to pigeon hole him one way or the other with an unhealthy pinch of salt…

yep… well said.

Mainz can be a very difficult team. Their problem is consistency…

11 points clear with 11 games to go
