Caoimhin KELLEHER: 2020/21

reminds me of some tamil names. Aparently if someone has a “zh” in their name, you’re supposed to pronounce it as a “la”

His first name is like an opening hand of lettered tiles you would pick up in a game of scrabble

Is it Irish

Yeah it said Queeve on the official site when they were talking to Klopp, unless they were trying to get Jurgen’s pronunciation over.

Péter Gulácsi was a young talent with us from his late teen years to early 20s. Took a spell in Austria before becoming firmly established keeper for a Bundesliga side.

Time is on Kelleher’s side. We don’t need to change our play from the back with Kelleher filling in for Alison, whereas with Adrian, there is too much uncertainty with when his next fluffed kick will be.

All going well so far, but of course, it’s in the nature of the game that a keeper will make a mistake. Hopefully any that Kelleher inevitably will make, he can get over it quick rather than doing a Arrizabalaga special and letting it affect him.

That prick Harry ‘Drooler’ Kane will target young Caoimhin first chance he gets next week.
He should demand Kane wears a mask while he plays. Otherwise the spittle will shower him every time they challenge for a header

More concerned with his signature move that will get someone seriously hurt one day but seems to win him free kicks.

If he continues the same development, would you all loan him out for a high involvement level loan? Some might say Alisson will have injuries, but he was pretty injury free before coming to Liverpool, so you cannot bank on that. I think a full season of first team involvement playing week in week out is important for him, so I would seek a loan for him next season.

Then we will need to find a second keeper who doesn’t massively drop in quality if Becker was to pick up an injury, I think we can guarantee 10-15 games a season for a number 2.

No.

I’ll keep him here to play the 15-20 games a season (Progress in the cups + The injuries that Alisson might suffer). We don’t dip too much from having him in the team.

Also with a loan you would need to find the right club for him.

I mean look at Danny Ward. He’ll be kicking himself now. Took a transfer to Leicester and he’s still quite firmly No 2 there without too much hope of getting meaningful games.

Had he stayed put at Liverpool, We wouldn’t have gotten Adrian and he would have played far more top level games than he’s actually done for Leicester so far.

This is always the biggest headache I believe in youth development in the GK position. If we are sure that Alisson is going to be injured that much, yes then it makes sense for him to stay on. But as I mentioned, Alisson is not a proven injury prone GK, if over the next seasons, if he stays fit, he plays in every single game in the PL and CL, then Kelleher only have FA and Carabao cup games to look forward and if we get knock out early, then he has nothing much to play. From a club perspective, yes it would be great to have him as a backup, just in case. But is this the best for Kelleher? I am not sure I have seen keepers become world class playing next to nothing just hoping for the 1st choice keeper to be injured and if not, sitting on the bench for most of the season. I am bringing this up simply because from the last few performances, I am feeling that Kelleher has every potential, compared to say Ward, to become more than just a decent keeper. Maybe he would be content to be backup in the next season or two, but as I mention, after that you simply cannot become a very good keeper coming to your mid 20s not having experience of playing week in week out. That is my opinion. I do think he would be best served on loan rather than selling him. Why because I believe Klopp would always try to find effective loans. I know that there are not many cases of players going on loan and making it under Klopp for us but that;s for outfield players, for a keeper, maybe this is necessary.

He most certainly wasn’t injury prone. Although of late? We need all the backup we can get at the moment.

I’m not sure it is definitely a hard and fast rule that a keeper has to play week in week out to finish his development.

I also don’t believe we have to play Alisson in every PL and CL match he’s fit for if we have a good enough 2nd choice.

Even if Alisson picks up no further injuries I’m sure we can get Queevo 10+ games per season to continue his development and don’t ignore that most of what footballers do is on the training pitches not actually on match day. I think it could work fine.
