I really can’t understand why we signed the other keeper. Is he much younger than this lad or any better?
Two years younger, not sure whether better or not.
I think Kelleher isn’t aggressive enough with long balls. Two dangerous situations last night might have been prevented by a cross claim from Alisson. Raya and Martinez are also very good at claiming crosses. With Alisson as the role model, we clearly value more front-footed goalkeepers over reactive styles like Kelleher’s.
I think the only two weakness in Kelleher are that he isn’t as dominant on crosses as we would like, and his frame is still quite skinny. He can look quite small in the goal sometimes and lack the intimidation factor that someone like Alisson has.
Everything else is absolutely top drawer.
I would have thought that he would start for any club outside Liverpool, Arsenal, City and Villa. I’m not convinced by Reyna or Onana, but they seem to like them.
Kelleher will be leaving in the summer. He wants to be a No.1, and given Forest’s laughable offer in August, I’d be expecting much better offers this time around.
I do feel he doesn’t always get the praise he deserves. On the rare occasions he concedes it is always a case of Allison would have saved that.
He’s a better overall keeper than Ederson. Ederson is more flashy with the ball at feet and playing those passes but in terms of positioning , short stopping etc and all the other things that make a keeper. Kelleher is better.
Pope is horrible with the ball at his feet.
Martinez is a good shot stopper but Kelleher is better than him.
Long story short. The only other keeper is on par with Kelleher is Raya. And Raya’s positioning is not on par with Kelleher. Makes flashier saves where Kelleher and Alisson make those look easier.
This is what training with Alisson does to keepers. It makes the other keepers up their game.
And Kelleher is 25 and all the others are 30.
Imagine if he still keeps improving.
You could maybe make that argument if Alisson was never conceding any goal an never making any mistakes.
Alisson is still the better keeper, and that’s OK.
Alisson is the gold standard for Keepers.
He’s the best keeper in the world. No shame in not being as good as him.
He should be looking at top clubs outside England.
- Bayern , they need a young keeper.
- Real might want to cash in on thibaut. Kelleher fits the bill perfectly.
- Leverkusen’s keeper is pretty average.
- Might be something that Leipzig can go for too. They have to be replacing Gulacsi at some point
Kelleher is 25 years on and coming into his prime years as a keeper. He’s available for a moderate fee which can be seen as a bargain. Edwards will be happy if we get for Kelleher what we paid for Mamardahsvili.
Any top team looking to have a good keeper for the best part of the next decade should be approaching us.
Edit : Barcelona as well if they find the money.
I feel like this thread is just trying to bait me.
Could we pull off a Mikey Edwards inspired Hughesy led dream transfer. Kelleher to R.Madrid for £35M upfront, with a further 100M over 7 years and a £500M Fuck Off and Leave Trent and Mo Alone tax
£20m + Kelleher for Tchoumeni?
Sounds tempting, but would still need to include a Fuck Off & Leave Trent & Mo Alone tax of some description
He isn’t better than lunin.
Lunin looks bang average this season.
Isn’t that the case for his entire career thus far?
Kelleher might just be the one guy where sweeting’s ratings of a player has gone horribly wrong.
20 + Tchouameni for Kelleher.
