Wednesday seem to be taking a fairly attritional tack for this match. Don’t want to give up a goal, and willing to see Barnsley wear down. By the end of extra time Barnsley will have played fairly near to a full match shorthanded
Dangerous plan of attack, that. Pens are so dicey.
Interesting that the Barnsley keeper is actually a Luton player.
Wednesday have stepped it up and that was a fantastic save.
Fucking loved that
And another save…
Barnsley then miss pretty much a sitter.
What’s the point in that mask the Wednesday player is wearing.
Bit like when people wore masks on their chin during Covid.
I have always been astounded at the extent of durability footballers must have in extra time. As @Arminius says, it is like playing virtually another full half.
Nothing on this side of the water has anything as grueling.
Lolzlana offside I think.
The way Sky showed the flag was class
I dunno if it’s the bet I have for pens or the Barnsley keeper save but I’ve switched allegiances
Brilliant goal!
Better be, with a last name of Windass
That is devastating for Barnsley
Heartbreaking.
Ah well this seasons been a kicker so the pound I lost isn’t a surprise
Hope the ref is happy
I’m most happy for my dear Sheffield native mate, who grew up in the shadows of Hillsborough. Although a devoted Reds supporter, the Owls have a special place for him as well.
Going up!
Just brutal to fight shorthanded for so long and then see it slip away at the end. Penalties would have been a gut punch, but that has such a terrible finality to it.
Just took a quick look at the League One table to see where Barnsley finished relative to Wednesday. It is remarkable that almost a third of that division is teams that have been in the PL, I had not quite realized how long it has been since Wednesday was in the top flight.
Strangely watched a fair few games this season and I’m not sure how they will approach it, they are able to be conservative but also go out attacking.
Coventry would have been far easier to watch but it will be interesting.
As for their ground their is a bit here, a lot of talk of it not being safe but it had a massive refurb in 2005 and the work taking place now is pretty much broadcasting. It’s not idea but they wouldn’t be allowed in the Championship with a safety hazard.
I remember the Alonso goal last time we played them.
