Not particularly bothered about him leaving. He’s not a great player. The important thing is using the funds properly. No point selling him for good money only to waste it on mediocre players.

Grasping at positives this does at least free up a spot for a none homegrown player and we do have quite a few options for the left wing compared to other positions.
The next few days need to be very busy, at least the new arrivals so far have made promising starts

It’s a concern. The squad seemed such a tight unit for a long time and now look like a collection of individuals. Unsurprising when 12 of the title winning team of 2 years ago are gone (if Cody and Elliott leave)
As people have said - you can’t sell Gakpo unless you’re bringing in another winger. And if that’s the plan, I can get behind it because I want players suited to Iraola and they’d only sell Gakpo if Iraola had a preference for someone else.
The fear though is that Gakpo choosing City now means Spurs will be dipping into the same market that we’re going into for another winger. And they’ve shown no hesitation about spending lots to build a system for De Zerbi. And their urgency is high now that they’ve started with zero points.
I’m comfortable that Liverpool would be preferable to Spurs for any player we’re targeting. But the selling club will want the biggest fee, and we don’t want a bidding war.
He’s not the only one who’s wanted to go.
Maybe the plan is to replace Gakpo with Rayan. That is something I can get behind.

Don´t buy it to be honest. I think if we do sell him it means one or two more players are coming in.
Unless we have a surprise winger not discussed, I dont think any linked are worth it. Better to keep Gakpo, wait until January and re assess.

We think there’s a plan here?
All summer chasing Barcola just to then sell Gakpo whilst chucking in bids and enquiries for a bunch of players, none of who profile remotely the same as each other.
And as yet we’ve landed none of them.

The transfer window closes on Tuesday evening and we don’t officially have Barcola signed yet. Either there is a lot of activity that the club has managed to keep quiet, or Iraola is sowing a silk purse from a sow’s ear.
It seems we’re still missing a piece of the puzzle to understand all of this.
You have to assume we have a move lined up with the push of a button if we’re allowing Cody to make the decision. But with the way they’ve done their business this group has lost the benefit of doubt the previous operation had earned. So I’ll hold my breath I guess
