There is a lot to come from Curtis. The potential is exceptional.
We had a lot of talks this week especially, a video session as well where we showed him he has to be more in these decisive areas because he is very good with the ball.
His control is good. He controls the game really well and keeps the ball, that’s all really good.
But a player of this quality, we needed him in the finishing situations as well tonight.
It worked out pretty well so we’re happy about that.
Sky’s the limit with this kid. If he keeps his head straight he could be a great great player. He’s got the work ethic, the humility and professionalism to be a good player now at a title challenging side but with his technical abilities and potential he could still develop into a scary player in terms of ability and quality. And a local lad passionately tied to the club and culture too. Him and Trent the foundations of the new Liverpool in the future?
But more in a Messi kind of way not a Cristiano Ronaldo/Paul Pogba kind of way. There’s being good, knowing it, accepting it and showing it. Then there’s screaming to the world “look how amazing I am, aren’t you all really really impressed by me?”! I know which type I prefer.
Curtis is 20 and we wouldn’t know/he wouldn’t reach his true potential until another five years. Hopefully he will have Klopp (and a similar type of manager) throughout these formative years. I guess senior players like Henderson and Milner will also have major role in grooming (mentality) him. If he stays (relatively) injury free and on the straight path, we will have something truly amazing for years to come.
Anyone else see Wilder strangling that guy on the touchline at the match the other night…
Apparently he was the executive that paid £25m for the wrong teenager from LFC.!
I’ve seen people claim that he is in a tier below Foden. Anyone who thinks that Jones doesn’t belong in the same discussion is either biased or doesn’t know what he’s talking about.
He isn’t as heralded as Foden but his ceiling is just as high if not higher.
Curtis would have been in the year below Foden at school…
Foden is 8months older… Almost a seasons worth of games
Makes a big difference in the development at such a young age.
Curtis will muscle his way into that England midfield when the time is right
I’ve said this before, but if he was emerging at Ajax, one of the non-Bayern Bundesliga clubs, or somewhere like Sevilla or Valencia, the conversation would be which European giant is going to spend 50m on him.
I actually like the way some people downplay Curtis’s development and contributions. It shades him from the social media fueled moronic legions while stoking his hunger to do better.
Have to agree. He has often been seen tracking opposition attackers and challenging in our own box and knocking some excellent long balls from our box to the like of Mane . Maybe the reason for taking him off is because he is considered important for the next game. Afraid that has backfired a couple of times though as we were doing well against Man City and Leicester until he was taken off and I believe the Burnley goal also came shortly after he was subbed. I just hope he can keep he can keep on improving and stay fit.
