I only agree with you in the first case. In the second and third ones, I will keep him. He can still play the roles of Milner or Shaqiri even when his development stalls or when he ages.
There is just so many things that can happen between now and when Curtis Jones ages.
Neither would lead to a quick departure but we donāt have a limitless squad size. As well as room for top star players in the squad we will (hopefully) have other academy graduates needing squad spaces to be promoted into. If 30 odd year old Jones wants to move to Spain or Italy for a big contract to end his career I think he will have earned that provided we get some form of fee.

A report from Portugal over Curtis Jones?
Oops should have been Jota thread.
Pep Lijnders on Jones:
Heās a physical machine! Really good, another step for his development. He deserved this chance and not only a chance, I mean he deserved this repetition of games. He gives this team so much risk and again, an example was Ajax. Heās a midfielder but is always the first one who arrives in the box or the first one who takes a shot ā Ajax was the same, the first two shots were Curtis. He has this great technical ability, of course, where he can make things look much easier than for others, but he fits in our team as no-one else because heās a physical machine. Great, another step, great commitment to show that we want to bring our own players.
I like it so much that players who are with us from such a young age can fulfil their dreams inside our club and we have this inside pathway where we can bring these players immediately. But donāt forget, he can only flourish because the big trees are protecting him constantly for the last years; now probably one tree falls down and this young tree grows up and he can deal with the wind because he had time to grow, grow, grow inside our forest, if you want to use that as a symbol. Really, really happy with him, heās a great boy to work with. I said many times, you cannot find more passion and ambition than a Scouse player. We need more of them.
Insight into the Wijnaldum contract negotiations?
OR Pickford on Virgil.
Thanks for that Pep quote Zoran - I like the forest and young tree analogy. It communicates very simply to academy players that they need to be patient and the process involves care and time.
I want Curtisās highlights from the Spurs game. There was one particular flick which was a total piss take. The ladās a baller alright.
Was that the one where he mugged off Harry Kane? Harry has just probably realised what happened.
One of the very few good things about this season has been the emergence of players like Jones and the playing time heās got. Just like Trent it hasnāt taken long before you start thinking about his as a first team player rather than a kid getting minutes.
The way he finds space and can manipulate the ball around the opposition area is seriously impressive. The drop of the shoulder, move the other way.
Once he finds his shooting boots heāll be banging them in for fun. Does have the technique but has scuffed a few recently, itāll come with a bit of time.
Another top performance from him.
Yeah, probably the nerves doing their thing. I canāt remember any other Liverpool midfielder - aside from Oxlade-Chamberlain - popping so often in so many good shooting areas. Doesnāt hide, in fact he looks like has no problem with taking responsibility. I wish he scored more but if he can actually dominate the proceedings like tonight or the second half against Fulham, I think heāll be worth his weight in gold for Liverpool. Iāll try not to get carried away but I love his playing style, precisely what this midfield needs in the long term and Keita and AOC couldnāt provide.
This was the one I was thinking of
From Barney Ronayās match review:
ā⦠Jones came of age, playing with wonderful control, swift feet and calmness too. Jones had taken 129 touches, completed 94% of his passes, taken three shots at goal, won four headers, four interceptions and glided about with a rare sense of grace. It had been tempting to wonder exactly what kind of midfielder-in-the-making he is. Here was the answer: a complete one.ā
Think a year ago I hear the Gaffer say that Jones is full of confidence and that according to Jones he was ready, until 4 weeks ago I thought he needed to much time on the ball, after that he proved me wrong, Iām glad.
Quality first half, went missing a little bit in the second, but itās all understandable. Settling in more and more. Might be an England senior debut some time in spring if he continues like this.
19? So much ability on the ball.
The only thing that can stop him is himself or a nasty injury.
He has that swagger on the ball the likes of Thiago have. Imagine him getting to further learn from him⦠what a player we have!
