Curtis JONES: 2025/26

Fucking madness. The people responsible for this should be shot!

They are the same people who put Gakpo on 250k. What do you expect?

IMO this is the consequence of putting someone like Gakpo, who never deserved anything above 200k, on 250k.

If he goes, I wonder how we will be able to cope with the homegrown rule next season?

Slot likes to use a small squad. With less home grown player, it’ll be an even smaller squad with restricted selections from non-home grown.

The home grown issue has been there for a while. LFC never seems to resolve it. But all these steer away from CuJo thread.

You don’t need home grown players. Just work with a smaller squad.
It’s nuts in the EPL even if you don’t have European football and indicates the club is in the hands of incompetent idiots. It should be a big worry to the fans, particularly as the non home grown players staying on high wages aren’t as good or adaptable.
It does give excuses though!

And Gomez and Elliott as well.

The homegrown quota is hanging on our neck

The idea of using a small squad to play in 3 fronts including EPL is mind-boggling.

Like it or not, it’s not possible to compete with a small squad anymore. Arsenal won the league because they added numbers to their squad. City came 2nd due to their January business.

To make revelant to this thread, there’s no way we should consider selling a decent homegrown squad option. There’s enough work to be done!

Really?

If only Klopp competed against a City side led by a small-squad coach during all those years :slightly_smiling_face:

Yes, we know you don’t like Gravenberch

To be fair, we had enough homegrown players during Klopp years if we count his entire squad.

Unlike Klopp, Slot refused to use the rest of the squad and also to use academy players.

Did you lose a bet to have him as your profile picture?

I’m watching to see what signings might be homegrown, too. We operate at the edge, so if we let home grown options depart, we will surely replenish that?

I came round to rating him in a certain role in a certain system. He had the skill set for that and was really good. We are no longer using him like that and he hasn’t the skill set, ability or adaptability for what he’s being asked to do.
Jones is a much better fit.
There’s no need to be stupid about this, there’s arguements that need expanding before your dismissive crap!

No he did well for a while in a specific role in the team that no longer exists.

They also had a smaller squad then. As Pep outlined in a recent interview, times have changed

We must get Wharton or Anderson.

For the homegrown quota yes but also to have some actual brits in the squad as we lose Robbo and probably Elliott or Gomez

And they“re very good players.

Think Anderson is going to the mancs…

Probably, unless we can get in there first. maybe we can.

Wharton would be good enough if not.
