Curtis JONES: 2025/26

A rotation option can not command a fee that a first team regular does. This is down to management as much as anything.
Liverpool have been behaving as if Jones is not needed. That forces the price down.

Spurs are looking at Savinho, on the bench for City at 60m!

He’s had periods of game time but has never nailed down a starting place and position, under Klopp or Slot. I don’t want to lose him but can understand that he’d like to have a more prominent role somewhere. And if he wants to go then we need to cash in

Spurs are fools :man_shrugging:t2:.

Fair point, did not consider this.

Under Jurgen, I think it was more to do with injury though wasn’t it? When he would get a run of games he would usually start playing well and then succumb to one.

If Iraola can turn wingers into defensive midfielders, I’m confident he find a starting role for Curtis somewhere.

But yes, if Curtis has lost faith here then it is understandable he may want to go somewhere new (and may have talked himself in making that move after losing faith under Arne).

Is this being reported anywhere else?

It was reported in the Times yesterday by Joyce

I’ve seen it in a few places. I’m hoping that he would extend with us. It’s difficult with him only having a year left on his contract, but €25m for a player of his talent is pretty derisory.

Just caught up! Phone free day with the family yesterday.

Bit low ball that, hopefully he gets a chance under Iraola.

That’s why we rejected it, I think we’ve also labelled it as such

Still think we should keep him for now,and let Iraola run the rule over him and act accordingly.

I’d like Jones to stay but at today’s ridiculous valuations, Ā£21.5 million is a total piss take. Inter should be told to get serious or take a hike.

Inter are low balling because with Jones it’s not just an expiring contract - it’s an opportunity to book pure profit, and they are expecting Liverpool to take a reduced fee (on top of a reduced fee) to be able to get that money on the books.

My understanding is the club want to sell and the player possibly wants to leave. It’s not a condition that keeps a ā€˜reasonable’ value.

It is notable that all the ITK responses has not been ā€œhe is an important member of the group and Liverpool are trying to find a solution on a new contractā€ but ā€œthat is too low an offer.ā€

Yes, it is too low an offer, but when someone offers you 20 quid to sleep with your wife the normal reaction is not ā€œhow dare you! $20 is far too little money.ā€

He’s leaving on a free.

It’s de rigueur these days.

But honestly $20 is really too low.

Let's make a deal
