Curtis JONES: 2025/26

Are you speaking from experience?

I’m joking anyhow it’s obvious we want to sell or he wants to go or both. I did think with Iraola and it does seem the case with Elliott that he would run the rule over the players but.

I would have thought so too,he may well have blossomed under a new manager, but if he wants out….
But they need to pay a fair price or be told to fuck off!
If this is being driven from upstairs it may indicate why Alonso gave us a swerve..time will tell!

Shame that’s not Oliver or Kav.

Pawson’s actually one of the ok ones.

From what I saw it was us who gave him a swerve.

I’m hoping that this suggests he has spent some time with Iraola and likes what he has planned.

Doubt it I think it’s the club that has changed track.
So perhaps Iraola convinced someone at the club to make Jones feel more welcome.

If it is a new deal with an exit clause, on the proviso that Jones does not play much, then I can see the sense in that. It gives him a chance to stake a claim under Iraola, while also letting him leave to build his career - at a fair price, not some rip-off Italian price - should it not work out.

Had Inter Milan come up with the dough, I think that would have been done. They are a big CL club and Jones would excel in Italy. But they are cheapskates, so it is back to the drawing board, and if Jones signs a new deal I will be happy with that.

Personally I think he is a smashing player and should see plenty of action here under Iraola.

What am I looking at?

He’s accusing Grav of stealing all the money I guess

First, you can’t possibly compare Curtis Jones to Jay Spearing and expect to be taken seriously.

Second, no one said that he doesn’t have weaknesses.

Why look for something to hate on in the first place? And why is Jones’ driving a Rolls any different to any other player showing up with an obscenely expensive car to Anfield? Is it because he is local and he’s supposed to keep a lower profile? I couldn’t care less.

As for his level, I must have been hallucinating when we won the league with him in the squad 12 months ago. If a serious upgrade is required on Jones, then we are screwed for the foreseeable future.

He isn’t a problem; he is an asset that we should be looking to retain.

I’ve never understood the hate for him. There have been games where he has clearly been our best player and yet there is some nitpicking about holding on to the ball too long (presumably looking for the best pass which he will have been coached to do). I have a feeling that some people don’t like any player with an easy to pronounce name or somehow imagine that he is some rando who they picked up off the street in Toxteth.

I gather that he didn’t see eye-to-eye with Slot at times. I am hoping that he will be encouraged to stay with the new coaching team.

Just leave these people alone. There are fans who critique players matter of factly and those who single out certain players for extreme criticism. For them, players from Lucas to Hendo and to Gakpo and Jones, they can do no right. But if that makes them feel good just let them be so.

It wouldn’t be so bad if they just kept it to themselves.

I’ve never been Jones’ biggest fan and think he’s vastly overrated by a lot of fans and also given an equal amount of unfair tap by large sections of fans as well.

Should he have made a bigger impact in his career this far - Yes
Can he still kick on - Yes
Is time running out for that to happen - Yes

All of the above can be true and in my opinion, are so.
