Darwin NUNEZ: 2022/23

In goal from what I remember.:wink::nerd_face:

Deserved a goal.

Looks horrid in light blue

Days have come when shots on target are material for compilation.

He’s scored apparently

makes sense, considering he’s not good enough to displace Suarez from striker.

Our crazy ex number 7 assisting our current number 27!

Trent’s getting fat (stop with the Luke Shaw diet) and his crossing has become average, maybe once he loses a few pounds his crossing will become better, which should help Darwin get some more scoring chances.

Carroll would be proud of that strike. Well done. :+1:

(Suarez’ assist is a peach of a ball btw. What a player he still is!)

Very much enjoyed watching Nunez last night, everything bar his finishing was on point… He was an utter menace all night, when he improves his finishing he’s going to be a monster.

Positive performance, I’d say. Was maybe helped by having more “closer” support with our structure change.

Nunez and Jota up top, it was like the classic Liverpool big guy & small guy partnership up top which we had at certain periods in our history!

Got into a lot of good areas. Maybe here and there could’ve scored, but a lot of those chances weren’t really sitters.

In parts of the game you see clearly room for improvement though.

Nothing else to say other than be calmer, don’t get provoked, put your head down, listen, leard and work hard.

In the opening minutes, when he stood in front of the ball to prevent a quick free kick is just what is needed.

Granted, he should not have then swung his arms about. Just be a nuisance standing in front of it. Job done.

Room for improvement… in goalscoring perhaps :sunglasses:

First of all, it was lovely to see him on the pitch, playing with his teammates. He won’t become the player we need if he’s not part of the action.

From the off he looked threatening. Decent shot well struck inside 2 mins, and he looked hungry to make an impression. He used his pace and body to get in a few good positions, and while I won’t go so far as to say he had any easy chances, he had enough half chances to have probably scored, though the goalie did well on a few occasions.

Not perfect, but decent enough, and I want to see more of it.

I liked the 4-2-3-1 and I think in time Carvalho might end up getting the nod as the one in the middle to load the bullets for Nunez, but we’re not there yet. It was good to see four attackers on the pitch, and if they can work out how to move and play together in this system - and there were a few signs last night against Rangers - then we will kick on and make something of the season.

Darwin Nunez has had a slow start to his season, partly self inflicted, and mostly as a result of the overall team having a slow start.

I think it’s all about to kick up a level or two, and if so, bring it on!

I think should have gotten a goal or two last night. I hope it makes him only hungry and not frustrated. He looked fresh/relaxed last night, as if he was feeling at home.

I think with Darwin, once he starts scoring goals, he’s going to score a lot of them.

He is older than Rush was when he arrived, but lots of similarities. Clearly talent there and his movement and pace looks like he makes it really hard for defenders. He just needs to clean up his own game. During his first season with us Rush’s suitability was questioned a lot as well. It took him over a year to score his first goal, and then he went on to score 30 that season, becoming league’s top scorer in a title winning season.
